Non-adherence is central to therapy research, and it's among the primary reasons I like ITT. Removing non-adherent persons from a therapy RCT would result in a causal estimand that has less relevance to real-world therapy than otherwise. Real world therapy clients don't perfectly comply.

Lovely day in Eindhoven, and not just because of the weather! I had Maciej Behnke over as visitor for a few days to talk science and pick up an old collaboration! And @crist14n.bsky.social had Jenny Murphy, Simon Nolte, and Robert Rein over to talk computational reproducibility in Sports science.

10Β Sequential Analysis β Improving Your Statistical Inferences
This open educational resource contains information to improve statistical inferences, design better experiments, and report scientific research more transparently.
The lack of uptake of sequential analysis shows how irrational scientists are, and how their methods are driven by norms. Sequential analyses give you more flexibility and are more efficient than a single hypothesis test, and yet, they are still very rare. lakens.github.io/statistical_...

Make Existing R Code Reproducible with 'worcs' and 'targets'
YouTube video by Caspar van Lissa
Does your R-script work on your computer? Want to make it fully reproducible on ANY system, now and in the future? In this video, I demonstrate how to turn R scripts into reproducible, version-controlled projects with worcs, renv, targets, and testthat to verify reproducibility. youtu.be/3mgRFMr5APU

The case for sharing clinical trial data
The story behind the first statin and how its development was almost derailed, and the implications of sharing clinical trial data.
New short blogpost!
There are probably many benefits of sharing clinical trial data, including:
Verifying results, better meta-analysis, understanding inconsistent results, further exploration, better clinical decision-making, learning how to run trials better, and reducing redundancy.

Confusion in gaming disorder measurement
Abstract. Measurement is important for the scientific programmes of addictive behaviours. In the present study, we investigated the measurement of gaming d
First post of the year, new paper out today: we present possibly the biggest case of systematic Measurement Schmeasurement in tech use. It seems that most studies on gaming (videogame) addiction/disorder haven't measured gaming after all. This research took years, so long 𧡠doi.org/10.1098/rsos...

RegCheck
RegCheck is an AI tool to compare preregistrations with papers instantly.
Comparing registrations to published papers is essential to research integrity - and almost no one does it routinely because it's slow, messy, and time-demanding.
RegCheck was built to help make this process easier.
Today, we launch RegCheck V2.

Is anyone here an expert on #rstats ellmer structured data?
It works when I define the JSON schema of an object A containing an array of object B, but not when I read object B from JSON schema and use type_object and type_array to set up object A.

Our publishing system does not prioritise or value the careful curation of research data to be FAIR nearly enough. I have been data editing for AP&P for a year now, and it is sad to see no reward for the clearly careful organisation of data and materials vs that which is thrown on OSF with no care!

Cycling like the Dutch would slash the worldβs carbon footprint
If everybody cycled like the Dutch, we could offset the UK or Australiaβs entire carbon footprint.
βDutch people cycle an average of 2.6km each per day. If this pattern was replicated worldwide, annual carbon emissions would drop by 686 million tonnes.
This mammoth figure exceeds the entire carbon footprint of most countries, including the UK, Canada, Saudi Arabia and Australia.β @euronews.com

No, PCOS Doesn't Lower BMR (Scientific Review)
This article examines the roots of the claim that women with PCOS have a lower BMR and reviews the research on the subject.
So, folks might recall the great BMR series of articles from the MacroFactor team last year. One of the articles tackled the challenges women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) face with respect to managing their weight, and claims that this is in part due to "slower metabolism"

Metacheck can now automatically 1) download a preprint from PsyArXiv, 2) create a report of the checks (stats, reporting guidelines, references, code, etc), 3) retrieve the authors email, and 4) send them the report.
Would you as an author appreciate this? When yes, when no?
