If you're a trained expert in a field, then it may be worthwhile to question the scientific consensus of your peers.
If you're not, the scientific consensus is absolutely the best you can do and it's arbitrary foolishness to disregard it.

The European Council just held an in-depth discussion on how to make sure that Europe’s climate ambitions and the competitiveness of our economy go hand in hand.
We reaffirmed our commitment to the Paris Agreement and stressed that we need to be pragmatic and flexible in our strategy.
Current empirical evidence does not support optimism on climate action. We can, maybe should, maintain hope - hope for change - as long as that hope drives more and faster action.
