View of the osprey nest box after it was cleaned by County staff. After the birds return there is a strict forbiddance on humans messing with the nest. Up above and to the right you see "Cam One". This screenshot is from "Cam Two", which is on the ground. You may notice some wires above the nest. That is a Goose Baffle to prevent Canada Geese from nesting here. Once the osprey return, it will quickly be removed.

After trying a few different things, this is the "Goose Baffle" that is now used to keep the geese from laying eggs on the nest. Most of the sticks were removed but some remain and that's enough for the clever geese to think this might be a good home.
The plastic owls did not work.
At the Boulder Fairgrounds Osprey Nest the staff have been cleaning out the old crud, polishing the cam dome and working on the posts. All in preparation for the osprey to return in another few weeks.

I just finished the NOVA on the mammals. It was interesting! LOL. wish I had someone to talk to about it. There were a couple of things that sort of bothered me but... in the end... it does seem like they did some pretty great research. Is that your take?
