Also, just to say it: OpenAI had nearly an entire week to respond to requests for comment for this article. They dragged and dragged and finally sent a small handful of bullet points "on background" at the very end of the day today, without making a statement on the record about any of this.

1996: My 6th grade english teacher was talking about various US military operations, and while I don't remember the exact material, I remember 1 student's reaction clear as day:

"It sounds like we (the US) are the bad guys!"

I think about that moment a lot.

To illustrate the disconnect between social media and the reality on the ground in Maine, look at the front pages of the two major papers in the state this morning.

Nothing about Platner's tattoo or the podcast he went on, despite Mills camp sending out an oppo blast meant to get more eyes on it.

It is important to reiterate that all law enforcement agents must have a judicial warrant or judicial subpoena to access non-public areas of the University, including housing, classrooms, and areas requiring CUID swipe access. An administrative warrant is not sufficient.
If law enforcement agents seek entry to non-public areas of the University, ask the agents to wait to enter any non-public areas until contacting Public Safety. Kansas just invalidated the drivers licenses of every trans person in the state. They’re being told to surrender their current licenses and get new ones listing their birth sex. No grace period. Get caught driving with your now-invalid license and you’re looking at jail and a fine.

President Trump claims β€˜we ended DEI,’ but that’s not quite true Most (71%) US employers dedicated more resources to DEI in 2025 than in 2024, according to executives.

Trump claimed that β€œwe ended DEI in America,” but research indicates that’s not quite accurate. The majority of leaders and workers in the US still value DEI policies, according to a recent survey by the Conference Board.

On Nov. 16, a mental health counselor recorded in Kamilla’s medical records that her mother reported the girl had lost her appetite after being β€œserved food that contained worms.”

A week later, the couple said, children were told to gather in the gym for what they believed would be a Thanksgiving celebration. Excitement spread as families saw tables set with turkey, sandwiches, pastries and pies, they said. The children waited expectantly. But when a parent asked when the celebration would begin, Oksana said, staff told them the holiday meal was for employees, not detainees.

The children, she said, watched despondently as the feast was packed away.

On Thanksgiving, the immigrant children held at the Dilley detention center gathered in the gym for what they thought was a holiday feast.

The kids salivated over a spread of turkey, sandwiches, pastries and pies, a family told me.

But the food wasn’t for detainees β€” it was for the staff.
