Russiaβs problem with Georgia was never just geopolitics β it was democracy. A free, pro-Western Georgia challenges everything they stand for. Thatβs why theyβll do anything to stop it.

π¨ 2/ US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on GD:
"The goal of the US are for international interests... Is it in our national interest to have an anti-American gov't governing an important part of the world? If not, we'll take appropriate actions to impose costs on that gov't."
Big news from DC: the U.S. House just passed the MEGOBARI Act β a strong message of solidarity with the people of Georgia.

Grateful to everyone in Congress who sees whatβs at stake and chose to act.
π¬πͺ Tomorrow will mark the Georgian people's 150th consecutive day of peaceful demonstrations.
Bipartisan members of Congress are proud to stand with the Georgian people as they refuse to surrender their democratic aspirations to an illegitimate regime.
April 9, 1989βone of the darkest days in Georgiaβs history. Peaceful protesters demanding freedom were crushed by Soviet troops. Dozens were killed, hundreds injured. 36 years later, weβre still fighting the same fightβfor a free, independent Georgia. Long Live Free Georgia π¬πͺ

Today we mark the Cadets' Remembrance Day in Georgia.π¬πͺ This goes back to 1921, when cadets died in the battle against russian red army.
In February 1921, russian red army captured Tbilisi & overthrew freely elected government of Georgia, resulting in annexation of the Democratic Republic of Georgia
It does miss 1992 and the Russian invasion of Georgia in 1992 shouldnβt be overlooked. Thanks for pointing it out, Tata!
