Pleased to have lodged a submission to the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing on the Getting It Right: A New Definition for NDIS Providers. The submission advocated for recognition of paramedicine as a provider under Section 9 of the NDIS Act. #health #disability #paramedicine
Nationally in 2024-25, there were 25,568 FTE salaried personnel (all staff), 5891 volunteer personnel, & 954 Community First Responders. Ambulance services employ ~70% of Australia's #paramedicine workforce. #Attrition is low except for the NT which has challenging work environments.
Government funding was also lowest in WA.
This appears an unworthy/inadequate level of support from a state with healthy finances.
On equity grounds, patients should not need to cover such a high proportion of the overheads & costs of an #essential #universal #community service.
Per capita revenue for WA ($181.85) was well below the Australian average ($228.44). However, the proportion of WA revenue from transport fees (35.3%) is more than twice the national average of 15.9%. SA also had a far higher per capita transport fee income than other agencies.
The Report on Government Services RoGS 2026 was released on 5 February 2026. It includes data on the delivery of #health & #ambulance services.

The QCAT submission noted #paramedicine was a #health profession requiring proportionate, expert, & contextual disciplinary processes.
With targeted enhancements, QCAT was supported as the appropriate forum. Last days to submit anything as the consultation closes 31 Jan. tinyurl.com/yktytrax
The QCAT submission focused on Issues Paper 6. It highlighted #paramedicine as a low-volume but high-complexity caseload, with few cases nationally resulting in deregistration or prohibition. Reform efforts should focus on #assessor capacity, #procedural #fairness, & early #resolution.
Queensland QCAT Act review. Pleased to have lodged a submission on the Queensland QCAT Act Statutory review 2025-26 dealing with Health Practitioner Disciplinary Jurisdiction in Queensland. Thank you to practitioner and patient collaborators. tinyurl.com/5atevw48

Why do paramedics & community care matter for women's pain? Because early decisions shape outcomes. It's on all of us - clinicians, policymakers, public - to support systemic reform. Read the evidence, join the conversation, & help close the gap. #health #pain #paramedicine tinyurl.com/68ku3brk
The Bridging the Gender Pain Gap report is a national wake-up call. Delayed care, cost barriers & dismissal harm women physically, mentally & socially. Victoria is acting with new #Pain Standards, clinics & more. Every jurisdiction should respond. #health #care online.fliphtml5.com/eeyoy/jbli/#...
13,000+ women & girls told a landmark Victorian inquiry one clear truth: their #pain is too often dismissed, downplayed, and undertreated. This is the gender pain gap, and it's a systemic failure. We have the evidence. Now we need action. #health #paramedicine #care

About one third (>2,500) of Victoriaβs paramedics work outside the #ambulance sector. As the #CPO provides #strategic #advice & #leadership for the whole #paramedicine cohort, the selection criteria should reflect broad experience & proven #engagement across the profession.
