More Patriot missiles used in Middle East in 3 days than in Ukraine since 2022, Zelensky says President Volodymyr Zelensky reiterated that Ukraine is ready to provide drone interceptors in exchange for missiles, though he did not specify which countries could be involved.

This is a fucking travesty.

“In just three days of fighting in the Middle East, more than 800 Patriot missiles were used — more than Ukraine has received throughout the entire Russian full-scale invasion.”

(A year’s worth of production or more, btw)

A whole fish sits next to salt and rice filled barrels, I think. It's got stylized kanji in vertical lines along the side. There are trays of cuts of fish, or vegetables next to the barrels.

I'm craving sushi: let's talk about who *invented it*.

Our story starts in the Mekong River valley: Laos, Cambodia, Thailand.

Locals realize they can preserve river fish in barrels with layers of salt & rice for YEARS, a precaution against drought, famine.

Historical illustration of a large, detailed owl with striking yellow eyes perched on a branch, gripping a small koala by the scruff of its neck in its sharp talons. The owl's feathers display intricate patterns of brown, white, and black. Below the branch, the koala appears limp, showing its rounded ears and gray fur. Sparse foliage in muted green tones surrounds the scene. The image captures a predator-prey interaction, emphasizing the owl's power and the koala's vulnerability.

Reform fury as someone else wins
by Our By-election Editor
Tim Shipsink
The losing candidate in the Gorton and Denton by-election, Matt Goodwhinge, has demanded an immediate re-run of the election on the grounds that he lost
comprehensively to someone else.
"It's totally unfair and rigged,"
said Goodwhinge.
"I shouldn't
be required to sit there and suck it up, just because I lost."
Mr Goodwhine continued, *I can't believe that all those voters I demonised failed to back me.
Especially after I was endorsed by Tommy Robinson and ten million Russian bots on X.
"We have clear evidence of family voting, where people voted in order for me to stop deporting their families."
Mr Badloser concluded. "I'm the victim of colour prejudice.
They didn't vote for me simply because I'm not green."
Reform leader
Mr Farage,
speaking from a sun lounger on a rock near the Chagos Islands said,
"It's a tragedy that the people of Manchester won't see Matt in Westminster, but my constituents don't see me in Clacton either."

Beautiful from Private Eye on the massive toddler-tantrum that Matt Goodwin and Reform are having, because they got whooped in Gorton and Denton.

If anyone is friends with any Georgian air traffic controllers, buy them a nice bottle of wine. As guardians of pretty much the only narrow gap still available between Europe and Asia that avoids both Iran, the Gulf, Ukraine and Russia, they are under some substantial pressure.

We have people who moved to these places to avoid paying taxes, while still getting the benefits of an Australian passport - and at the first hint of trouble, want to bludge off the taxpayer to get the government to bring them home. If their primary tax domicile isn't Australia, bill them for it.

Another favourite wartime fact is that Peter Butterworth of Carry On fame - was a POW at Stalag Luft iii and was involved in the Wooden Horse escape.

When he later tried to audition for a role in the film he was turned down for not looking heroic enough.

Going to be difficult to send a medical ship when the only two the US has are both in drydock for maintenance.

So, what is Trump planning here?

Is he actually sending a regular military vessel? And if so, to what end?

Goethe 1826.

For a very brief window, the state of the art in fire-making technology involved sulfuric acid, platinum wool & a steady stream of hydrogen, but no sparks.

Let's talk about Döbereiner's lamp, invented 1823 & produced until about 1880.

It starts with sulfuric acid in a jar!
