Didn't Aldgate Barrs get closed suddenly because of a flood. Maybe the shops are still preserved behind their trapped in time. Years ago I used to walk through there tto Liverpool st and the shops and bar had a reasonable turnover. Mobiles didn't work in the bar which was useful.

np. Various brands - claber and hozelock plus others not in the junk box in my shed failed so in the end I went for no-name cheap ones - pre-amazon! Retirement project will be Home Assistant/RPi and mains powered LV valves and resurrecting the 10+ year old pipework. It was drained down in the winter
A few years ago I had various "dumb" timers and drippers. The timers were battery powered but I soldered a connection and carefully ran wproof wires back to a 6v PSU and that ran happily for a few years until the mechanism died. We have hard water and the valves gum up. Tried vinegar out of season.
Thanks - so person A presents their phone and normal person B can verify that on a device with some sort of one time "thing" without compromising person A's identity. So the thingy (QR code etc) has a timestamp element to show that's it's current. Interesting. Will do some reading. Thanks again.
Can I add a 3rd? No teenagers understand computers so they won't be copying icons and sideloading a version of an app that looks identical but actually just makes them older so they can get served. Unless every club doorman can properly securely authenticate what is presented digitally that's a gap

You are right about the channels/mudflats. "As a commercial port, Wells’ high point was in the 19th century when large wooden sailing vessels, some over 300 tons were built here, some 170 or so of them. It was then that the stone quay was built." from wellsguide.com/about-wells-...
