Tall native grasses - Toetoe - wave atop the black sand dunes of Ocean Beach, Kāwhia. It's yet another awe-inspiring sunset. These tussocks are quite tough, knowing how to bend with the winds of change (literally) along this stretch of West Coast beach. Toetoe possess saw-like 'teeth' (the edges of the serrated leaf can cut the skin), lending to a nickname of 'cutty grass'. Their form, according to one website is "drooping, flowing".
