If you need a macro dose of sweetness, you should check out this touching 24-minute documentary about a squirrel raised by a cat, narrated by David Attenborough.

Yes! I thought it was surprisingly nuanced in its treatment of interpersonal relationships.

Movie poster and description for Alucarda on Letterboxd
I finally got around last night to watching Juan LΓ³pez Moctezuma's 1977 film, Alucarda.
It is, without a doubt, one of the most metal films I've ever seen.

There are a lot of great books and articles on dialectical logic by Hegel scholars (and if you're familiar with Aristotle, you might check out, for instance, Allegra De Laurentiis' work on Hegel and Aristotle), but I still think there's no better place to begin than Hegel's Phenomenology of Spirit.

God has no taste
I just passed by a truck with a huge 'Charlie Kirk, American Hero' bumper sticker. Fucking philistines.
It sounds to me like what Marcuse called "one-dimensionality."

Thank you!
Me too. It's been very stressful not being able to communicate with them.
Thank you, Shea. I appreciate your concern.
I just got off the phone with my sister. She told me that a hotel in the Seef neighborhood of Manama (where she lives) was just hit.
Their plan is to stay in the basement of their apartment complex for the rest of the night.
I just heard from my bff/ brother in law in Manama that the residential buildings that were just hit were in a neighborhood in immediate proximity to the US base.
It would be some relief if my brother and sister were to get a bit further away from Juffair. But it is not safe right now to go out on the roads with shrapnel from intercepted missiles falling from the sky.

My family in Bahrain is safe for now, but my sister and brother in law live 10 minutes away from the US military base.
I'm extremely worried.

It's been so cold here that Hilda has started to sleep in Mewtwo's bed.
Mewtwo doesn't seem to mind.

I thought we made up? Now you're suggesting that I haven't researched something that I do research regularly? My entire confusion turns on your application of the worry about data profiling to this particular case! And you refuse.
Your advice strikes me as officious.
Thanks for responding. I am genuinely curious about this.
Is this to say that we shouldn't post anything personal on bluesky - or was there something particularly problematic about posting about classes I enjoyed in college? I just want to know what to avoid.
still curious about the reasoning here

Not sure I understand. Is the problem with lists?
