I love history, so I am excited to live through the 1840s, the Robber Baron era, the 1918 Pandemic, the Great Depression. 1930s Germany, and the 1960s at the exact same time
Left-wing censorship was a fantasy, but the right-wing censorship is real, unconstitutional, and murderous. There was no majority anti-conservative social media bias or casual forced use of words like βbirthing person.β But stripping protest rights and official language is actual deadly censorship
How much WD40 do you have to drink to believe this shit?
guy putting an "i bought it before he was crazy" bumper sticker on his tesla next to a half-torn off "my other ride is a quiddich broomstick" bumper sticker. next to that a hastily painted over "kanye drake 2020" sticker

Today, a broad coalition of scientific professional societies who represent over 92,000 scientists are speaking out against the politicization and demonization of Federally funded science and government scientist jobs.
It was an honor to help the Union of Concerned Scientists with this! π§ͺπ
Heading: Tariffs could push up costs for car industry. The graphic shows a map, with 5 steps in the manufacture of a piston. 1. Powdered aluminium sent from Tennessee 2. Turned into rods in Pennsylvania 3. Shipped to Canada, Canadian tariff paid at border, rods shaped and polished in Canada 4. Rods sent to Mexico for assembly into pistons. Direct transfers from Canada to Mexico do not incur tariffs. 5. Shipped to Michigan. US tariff paid at border. Pistons become part of engine in Michigan.
This BBC graphic is a good way to show why reciprocal 25% tariffs will cause prices on some goods to go up far more than 25%.
A piston used in a car engine made in Michigan will cross the U.S. border twice, and will be taxed 25% each time.
Some products cross the U.S. border even more than that.
1. Happening now, the United States Senate is considering S9, a bill that would ban transgender people from playing sports of their gender identity from chess to darts and everything in between.
It could result in genital exams and more.
I'm covering live.

Imagine DOGE opens your mail and finds your household electric bill. To eliminate this cost, they burn your house down without warning. Then they total up the bills that, as a homeless person, you will never again pay. On its website, DOGE boasts about the money it has saved you.
There are no illegal protests in a democracy. Fuck that guy.

MAGA acts like finding fraud in government is some new thing DOGE invented. They arenβt good at it, but experts who were let go were.

Reminder: Donald Trump asked to play the President in SharkNado 3.
He was told that they had given the role to Mark Cuban, but he could be Vice President.
He flew into a rage and soon after announced he was running for President for real.

A Hopkins' Rose nudibranch, bright pink with pink cerata, pink rhinophores, and pink gills.
A Black-tipped Spiny Dorid, a white nudibranch with many short white cerata tipped with black, looking like a cute little fluffy sea bunny with long white rhinophores tipped with red and black and a tuft of red gills.
A Warty Shag Rug Nudibranch. It's mostly pinkish-peach in color, with peachy cerata with brown splotches on them. Its rhinophores are grayish in color with little "warts" on them. It has a white band going across its head and onto its oral tentacles.
A Modest Cadlina Dorid nudibranch, pale yellow in color with tiny, bright yellow dots along its edges.
Spent both days this weekend in the #tidepools at a couple of my favorite sites. Things felt a bit churned up from the recent storms, but still spotted many cool creatures, including many #nudibranchs. Here are a few of them.
Genuinely confused, if the Ex Orders aren't legally binding and are even being stopped by judges, why are so many scientific orgs rushing to implement them? Why not refuse, or better yet, organise to do so en-masse? Is there any joint leadership emerging?
Kiwa hirsuta, photo Alexis Fifis. Elongated white squat lobster, seen dorsally. Most notable feature is hairy legs (hirsuta = hairy) and exceptionally hairy claws. The proximal parts of the claws are more than 2x the length of the carapace
@thefuzzyslug artwork of a group of 15+ white Kiwa tyleri, all overlapping each other and taking up nearly the entire frame. This is true to their real life behavior. Some colored anemones are in the corners. Bottom of this image says polarlightszine.itch.io
K is for Kiwa.
In hydrothermal vents and methane seeps >1000m, exotic locales like Antarctica and the Galapagos, yeti crabs (of octonauts fame) thrive. Divorced from sunlight, they farm chemosynthetic bacteria on their own claws, waving them around!

Exciting news from the Isle of Man. Iron Age spoons are incredibly rare; this is only the 28th example that we know of & implies trading of these special ritual tools west from Britain.

Are you wondering about the context in which President Trump said that plastic straws don't hurt sharks?
His history with sharks is surprisingly long and complicated. And I am here to help.
