Caught some of the BRITs
Caught some of the BRITs
Thatβs a big surprise win there, but a very welcome one. Always nice to see BAFTA pull a win (and even nomination) like that. More of it, please. #BAFTAs
Iβve complained about the Golden Globes being just a celeb dinner party before, but the way the BAFTAs have these βpresented earlierβ montages suggests the broadcast is only really focused on famous people rather than film craft. #BAFTAs
Hey, itβs as if these rushed speech montages that completely overlook below-the-line work once again show that the BAFTAs should be shown live or just in full. #BAFTAs
Paul Mescal echoing many people when watching the #BAFTAs.
Joachim Trier might have given the best speech of the night there. #BAFTAs
For a ceremony where musical performances tend to be a bit naff Golden was a rather welcome burst of energy #BAFTAs
Ok, in this case maybe not as nonsense as I usually view it simply for highlighting a film that otherwise may have gone completely under the radar (and that Iβd not heard of until now), but most other times utter nonsense. #BAFTAs
Also, Childrenβs And Family Film is such a nonsense category. #BAFTAs
Should have let Paddington present Best Film! #BAFTAs

On the final episode of series 1. Was really enjoying this show, totally understood the hype. Then Billy Joel started playing and it might suddenly be my new favourite show.
Wrote some words for @moviemarker.bsky.social about Iron Lung. Why not take a look at them? (A big thanks to @darrylgriffiths.bsky.social for his help and seeing this as worth publishing!) www.moviemarker.co.uk/iron-lung-%E...

Going to try and move this thread (and the album one) again and see how it works on Instagram. Just for the very unlikely chance that anyoneβs interestedβ¦ www.instagram.com/jamie_ramble...
FINALLY recorded a new podcast episode! (Hopefully going up Monday, itβs a rather great conversation).
And quite often texts, too.
Doesnβt matter how many times Iβve spoken to a person, how informal and relaxed the conversation has been, I will still send the most formal, apologetic, anxiety-ridden emails possible.
Released a small ramble podcast to break up the much-longer-than-hoped-for gap between regular episodes. Just a handful of recommendations of self-care examples and creativity Iβve been recently struck by. open.spotify.com/episode/0MIL...
Going over my notes from the LFF screening of Hamlet last year and it took me two notes/ sentences to quote Phoenix Buchanan.
"Oh, be quiet Hamlet. You are your dreary conscience."
Always a pleasure to join Jamie and run down the best films of the year!
