Interesting list of species captured on wildlife camera set in riparian zone of Mary River … bandicoots, short eared brushtailed possums, swamp rat, maybe melomy, yellow robin, grey shrike thrush, bush turkey AND feral cat. Surprised at diversity despite presence of feral cat.

We count hatched turtle eggs from our nest protection program. Indicates success of nest protection (positive for Landcare members & funders), BUT has 25yrs of nest protection increased the population?????

Obvious what the environmental consequences will be of an approval decision. But what consequence is there for Watt either way? Not so sure environmental consequences are top of Watts mind.

A dilemma. Eg. foxes ARE eating endangered freshwater turtle eggs. Fox culprits can be baited , shot etc legally. Can’t reduce predation pressure from native predators eg goannas. Possible to reduce predation from all species at very localised area but resource intensive & unachievable at scale.
