The cover of Horatio Clare's "Aubrey and the Terrible Yoot" - a boy, a squirrel and a rabbit stand in the foreground, next to a hovering owl. In the background, a hideous monster's head made of darkness - its teeth the negative spaces between trees supporting the darkness and the eyes two beetles in droplets of amber.

I'm late to this party, but Aubrey and the Terrible Yoot by @horatioclare.bsky.social and illustrated by Jane Matthews (not sure if she's on Bluesky) is a brilliant book, that deals with its serious subject with imagination and hope. I'm very glad I finally got round to reading it.

Grok AI says its master Elon Musk's cuts to US AID will cause 2-3 million preventable deaths per year. The idea that a man so politically ignorant, socially cruel and pathologically narcissistic should have the remotest idea about the UK, or anything whatsoever to contribute to our future, is a joke

Reading this insightful book by @horatioclare.bsky.social - he quotes Clare Moseley of Care4Calais "If we had put all the billions of pounds we're spending on the asylum backlog, on the hotels, on the holding centres, on Rwanda, on all the security into investing in infrastructure and jobs..imagine"
