Thanks, Right that accounts for their post. Nice find. I’m hoping it is there today as well. Cheers
James Birdguides also say it's the 2nd day of being there. When was it first seen?
Hi Ian looks like Colpognathus celerator
Very nice Mark, they'll be here in a few years.
Had a visit to our old Hants patch today and found lots of Scarlet Elf cups at Blashford, Marsh Tit at Eyeworth and a calling Red Kite near Breamore made a nice day out.

A 1st/winter Rock Pipit, enjoying the afternoon sun on shingle beach.
Not had the camera out much of late mainly due to the weather. Had a walk at Keyhaven a couple of day ago and only found Redshank and a 1st/w Rock Pipit who wanted to be photographed.
Hi Martin, did you copy & paste into the blog page? If so it has interpreted the colour incorrectly. You will need to go into the html version of the page and change the colour or write it all again on the blog page. If you ask google it should give you a step by step on how to do it. 👍
I've recently completed a first draft of a book about birding, a Big Year and mental health. I've approached a number of publishers (with no acknowledgement from any so far) but am wondering about self-publishing. Anyone got any experience with either form? #naturewriting #birds
Don't often see both Roe and Sika Deer together grazing in the same field. Bestwall, Wareham. @dorsetwildlife.bsky.social
Tundra Bean Geese and a few Russian White-fronts at Ridge today just after they flew in to the field from Arne Moors.
Hope you have a great Christmas and a excellent birding 2026.
Managed a nice dog Otter last week myself and there is 4 not far from home though not seen them yet.
What I really want to say is Merry Christmas to you and yours and wishing you a healthy birding New Year.
Thanks Dave, sounds good. I’ve ordered a new LED trap which runs off a small power pack and it got me thinking about getting a power station to run the traps I already have. Much quieter than using a generator. 👍
Hi Dave, how long will one of those run a trap for? As I’ve been thinking of getting one to be more mobile so I can get the trap out to different areas.
Jackie and I took a trip down Wyke Regis today and caught up with the very obliging Desert Wheatear. @dorsetbirdclub.bsky.social

Hi Steve I was down at Seaton Wetlands on the 19thcame across a CR Black-tailed Godwit. I seem to recollect that you were colour ringing godwit a while back. You are probably already aware of this individual but thought I would report it just in case you hadn't. Nick
Visit to Shapwick Heath and Decoy Hide was fairly quiet but 2 drake Ring-necked duck showed very nicely & very actively feeding @somersetwildlands.bsky.social
You know I think it must of overshot but trying again tonight just in case.
Nice one Phyl. Can you give it my address for tonight.
Received a very sinister look from the Boat-tailed Grackle today at Calshot. It walked right up to me before going off and sitting on another birder. Great bird to see just needs to find another ship to get back home.😀
Last night a Brick, was a new for the Upton garden and the December Moth and Red-line Quaker were new for the year.
