@travellerpride
A UK social group ran by and for LGBT+ Travellers, used in the most inclusive sense - Including Roma, Irish Travellers, Gypsies, Boaters, New Age Travellers, Showmen, and other Travellers both "ethnic" and "new" living traditionally or settled.

It's like how "Transgendered" became "incorrect", when 20 years ago we absolutely described ourselves as that, as in, we are gendered (verb) in a trans-sexual way, the way we are gendered is seen as incongruous or as crossing/transiting a boundary...
A friend who went to public school once observed to me that all his male PE teachers were ex-Doc Martens League footballers, and all his female PE teachers were still playing for England, and never has the way that women's sports are underfunded and treated as a novelty for the rich been so stark.
If every one of us put a drop in the bucket every day, we'd fill so many buckets. The unsung heroes are just as important.
People who catastrophise about Gillick having been thrown out are going to sew a lot of confusion about the law in the UK. It's really important to listen to legal experts on these topics and not panic.
Conservatives do desperately want to destroy Gillick but the court of appeal isn't about to.
You know, I posted it and immediately thought "I rather like neanderthals, they were curious, thoughtful people, I bet if you gave one of them a lightbulb and a socket, they'd either use it as-intended, or work out how to break it open to use as a firelighter..." XD
Transphobes holding "HASHTAG WE CAN ALWAYS TELL, MA'AM, SIR, MA'AM" in their left hand and "If you don't tell us what your genitals looked like when you were a baby, we might forget and accidentally fancy you" in their right, and trying to fit them together like a neanderthal screwing in a lightbulb
Great explanatory thread about the new CPS guidance on "sex by deception". The key is, it's hard to know whether or not someone else knows you're trans, and many trans people just don't talk about it much, or at all. Not to mention, this adds a whole legal layer of risk to gloryholes and darkrooms.
This incidentally is why I am always wary of "stranger danger" stuff posing as feminist: Bc when you imagine "A strange man in an alley" you picture him as unalike the men you know as possible- Which often means if you're white, the man you see as the danger, is a man of colour. It gets racist fast.
pretty much my final big piece @huckmag.com is this from @travellerpride.bsky.social on their incredible work and their amazing plans for the future (which you can help realise by donating!) give it a read + donate here!

Even the threat of this reduces trans people's quality of life: If you know it's coming, you reduce your dose, trying to save a few days' worth at a time so that you have a buffer for when the prescription inevitably is delayed. Meaning your hormone levels are chronically low, which is bad for you.
GPs cite βlack of expertiseβ. Then bloody learn. At Aliceβs inquest Dr Barratt Tavistock GIC lead clinician said he could teach GPs how to treat trans people in a couple of hours.
Itβs not lack of knowledge. Itβs lack of will to treat. Any doctor who wonβt treat any patient shouldnβt be a doctor.
That's my point, his "tradition" isn't a real tradition, what he's talking about is liking an animal, or maybe feeling a connection with the symbolism applied to an animal. There is no living tradition of anything similar to spirit animals in modern Irish or any Scandinavian cultures.
Even more gently: Cool! How was the tradition passed down to you? Did your parents invest you with it, or did you do a ceremony in your Irish-Scandinavian community? Was it a coming-of-age or personal achievement? Do all people in yr culture have one? What role does it play in how yr culture works?
I say this gently but, if you have to use the AI summaries off Google (which in turn don't describe a tradition of spirit animals, one of them talks about symbolism and the other is about fylgja and/or the companions of the Gods) rather than real live examples, you don't have a tradition.
I've been saying "Cass hoax" or "Cass fraud" as a direct parallel to the Wakefield hoax that it is a successor to (Where a doctor with vested interest in producing their own 'treatment' tries to discredit existing treatments by mangling collected data). Definitely though, cute puns don't help us.
Has anyone thought about a die in at the Xmas day mass of wes's church?
Just putting it out there
Good morning, friends and fiends!
It's Friday, which means I can FINALLY share my interview with the incredible @pennyblake.bsky.social! I've been fighting the urge to hit the publish button early all week because this one is just so so good.
What are your weekend plans?

Fuck it. Trans folks need MATERIAL SUPPORT.
@distributeaid.org is launching an HRT Harm Reduction Toolkit that provides 1 year of medical supplies needed to take injection-based HRT. We were planning to go live in January, but I'm not waiting.
Fund the kits here: distributeaid.org/hrt-harm-red...
Every single sex-by-deception case too usually has a sidebar in the press (regardless of the details of the actual case) about "Dangerous (trans men, especially Black or South Asian ones) preying on White Women's Innocence" (ie, Good Girls don't know how A Man Will Be, so can be FOOLED by PERVERTS)
We just did an exhibition there at the start of this year! It's such a beautiful place. Do you know the Edinburgh Zine Archive too? (We haven't worked with them, but one day I'd love to!)
If the census is right ~1:100 people is trans. So if you're an average trans 10yo with 2 parents, 4 grandparents, 1 sibling, 60 pupils in your year, 20 friends at swim club and 10 local pals- you often won't know another one Like You. You will only see them in media. That media can be lifesaving.
Now that SEENinpublishing are ramping up their crusade to hide all published evidence of trans people existing from kids, it is more than ever your moral duty to make zines about us - Our culture, our lives, our thoughts, our ways - and litter them around where they can be found, shared and copied.
Having just had a conversation with @folkloretodmorden.bsky.social that included the statement "You can't sleep here, there's too many cursed little guys...' I must throw their hat in the ring!
incredible piece from the legends at Trans Kids Deserve Better on stunning action outside Wes Streetingβs constituency office yesterday.
so much of the coverage of the puberty blocker ban has spoken for or over trans kids - now hear directly from them:

Trans Kids Deserve Better members told me that two gender critical activists hung around their encampment for about 2 hours messing around with their stuff, and appear to have stolen a trans teen's mobility aid.
My take on the letter (full text included in the ALT).
Sent to Streeting and copied in to my local MP.
Just seen an indication that at least one of his inboxes is already full. Don't let up.
