This morning I encountered the third different cafe in the past few months telling me they were out of Earl Grey. Are we in an Earl Grey supply chain crisis?

I can only imagine what dosage you would need for shingles (which I have also had - but a very small case while on a research trip where I couldn't access health care)!

I had to take gabapentin for several years (still do every few months) for the neuropathy I suffered from my severe preeclampsia. When I stopped taking it daily it was like a fog lifted.

Our director, Nick Bassill, was happy to chat with Aylin Woodward at the WSJ about our nor'easter, which will be remembered for a long time.

Such sad news. A kind and brilliant man. I love his essay on the use of phones in 2000s Filipino political culture and mobilization, β€œThe Cell Phone and the Crowd;” it’s powerful for its rejection of technological determinism, and its nuance and subtlety.

Rest in peace, Vince.

Obviously, turning down Trump's invitation could have been done out of spite, but I prefer the more likely reason - these women really ARE too busy with their actual jobs and schoolwork, because female athletes have to hustle just to play their sport.

Teaching the history of science is fun because you get to pull up images like this and be like "let's unpack this"

I knew about the merging of departments, but not about the closure of the advising center. Our university would collapse without our academic advisors!

If you want to know when Trump will start bombing Iran, he is waiting for the Olympics to be over. Dictators always wait for the Olympics to end before they attack other countries.

I love how at least one competitor stated that she just assumed she was hallucinating - that's how intense the sport is.

I've noticed a ton of errors in labelling athletes, scores, nations, etc. that I've been chalking up to reliance on AI.

The women's free skate and hockey final are at the same time, which should be illegal.

I've been a big Jessie Diggins fan for a while now - I admire her outreach on eating disorders, she trains in my home state of VT, and just seems like a delight of a person. This past summer we were camping in VT & sat just a few feet away from her at the 4th of July fireworks!

A photo showing Olympic Cross Country skiers celebrating the finish of the Women's 10km free race

The final three skiers in the women's 10km cross country (free) skiing race were from Brazil, Iran, and Mexico and the women who came in first, second, and third were there to meet them and congratulate them. Jessie Diggins literally took the Mexican racers boots off for her. #olympics

I am continually amazed by my daughter's kindergarten teacher's methods for teaching 5 year olds how to read. I wouldn't even know where to begin.

Someone told me lately "Bluesky is just like Twitter." I argued that was untrue on the basis that last time I had a Twitter account most times I got a new follower their bio said "single & looking for fun" & here when I get a new follower it tends to say something like "professor of rare moths".

Also, the suite was the one Michel Foucault lived in while doing a residency at UVM, so I always got a chuckle out of using the bathroom and thinking to myself "I'm using Foucault's toilet."

I was in the first cohort of the honors program at UVM in the 90s. One of our courses was to read The Magic Mountain by Thomas Mann. We did read some related works but basically just read it a few chapters at a time & met in a Living & Learning suite. It fueled my interest in the history of medicine

When even the WeRateDogs guy is compelled to speak out about your product’s dangerous normalization of surveillance that may be subverted by the state, you’ve clearly crossed the line.
