If something else comes along that brings together the platform, the algorithm, and the users, I'll happily be there. But keeping the anti-Trump coalition inspired and aligned into the midterms is too important to quietly wait it out without knowing the exact fate of TikTok.
I've felt no intent to manipulate me. I read their Trump pop-up like an inside joke. It was laughably on the nose. Something I would think up to troll Trump to his face without him realizing it.
I'll decide for myself in the next month or so. I think they wrote a flowery message to buy time with Trump. I really don't think it's any deeper than that. Congress can still repeal the ban (best option). If bytedance divests, big red flags pop up.
I'm saying what I feel needs to be said and the message is getting out, it's not being monetized for free by Zuck or Musk, and I'm not getting any CGV. No corporation is perfect, but TikTok is better than the rest, by far.
TikTok has always had more aggressive filters for potential misinformation and abuse. That goes both ways. They also don't want their platform to spiral into a cesspool of panic and misery. That's not a fun place to spend time.
I think Meta was just trying to lure sketched users back to Facebook. Pretty basic competitive move. I'm still not sold anything has been decided, or that TikTok will survive the ban. Need Congress to simply repeal it.
