More on the guy that refused to wear a Canadian jersey when he was our ceremonial captain.
Hey Wayne, we know who you are.
You belong in Florida with the convicted felon who continues to threaten our nation.
Ps. your wine sucks.
Today is the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence against Women. On this day, we honour those killed and injured during the École Polytechnique tragedy, and all women who experience violence. It is also a day to commit to ending gender-based violence.
Great to meet @charlieangus104.bsky.social at the Aboriginal Education Association’s pro-d today!
Attended a great session yesterday @scottishsfu.bsky.social where I learned about some new research being released on the Jacobites around culture & memory. As a Comparative Cultures teacher, this presentation gave me quite a few good ideas I’m looking forward to bringing into the classroom
Standardized tests reward correctness over creativity
But many real-world challenges demand innovative thinking, not just accurate answers
So, let's use performance tasks that encourage creative solutions & novel approaches, even if they look different from student to student

Traditional tests often focus on speed, not depth.
But rushing through content only rewards surface learning and sidelines reflection.
So, let's design assessments that allow students to take their time, think deeply, and develop thoughtful, nuanced responses.

Some fear that giving students choice will reduce academic rigor.
However, when grounded in clear outcomes, choice increases ownership, meaning, and motivation.
So, let's make student choice the default by allowing personalization in product, process, or topic.

This is the key and important part about all of this.
Traditional tests often focus on what’s easy to score, not always what matters
Memorized facts don’t reveal whether students can apply, synthesize, or create.
So, let's start using performance tasks that challenge students to think & transfer learning.

Le premier ministre Mark Carney serre la main de Sa Sainteté le pape Léon XIV lors d’une rencontre après la messe d’inauguration du pontificat au Vatican.
It was an honour to meet His Holiness Pope Leo XIV today following his Mass of Inauguration.
His message of unity and compassion inspires the best in us all.
Will have to give this a try…
Just when you thought it couldn't possibly get any worse.
I asked Wendy if I could read the paper she turned in, and when I opened the document, I was surprised to see the topic: critical pedagogy, the philosophy of education pioneered by Paulo Freire. The philosophy examines the influence of social and political forces on learning and classroom dynamics. Her opening line: “To what extent is schooling hindering students’ cognitive ability to think critically?” Later, I asked Wendy if she recognized the irony in using AI to write not just a paper on critical pedagogy but one that argues learning is what “makes us truly human.” She wasn’t sure what to make of the question. “I use AI a lot. Like, every day,” she said. “And I do believe it could take away that critical-thinking part. But it’s just — now that we rely on it, we can’t really imagine living without it.”
Speechless.
May the 5th is Red Dress Day. The first thing you can do to enact change is to read the report! This will help you understand the harm and colonial violence that continues to happen to Indigenous Woman and Girls. It's time to stop the harm www.mmiwg-ffada.ca/.../06/Final...

All my single-column rubrics feature embedded dropdown lists of feedback. The feedback is also editable, so personalization isn't sacrificed in the name of efficiency.
These embedded feedback banks have undoubtedly made my assessment practices stronger and more sustainable. #edusky #bced
