Love this black and white map of St. James, often cited as the densest and most diverse high-rise community in North and I key site my Hyperlocal Future of Aging Work that combines activist anthropology and inclusive design research of older adults in three such underserved blocks #actionresearch

I am trying to figure out whether to go to a conference in Winnipeg around then. This seems like a good excuse to double down!

I donβt remember the last time I slept in beyond 6:30, but between my class, public talks, fieldwork and the Ontario election, I got my ass kicked last week. Darkly helpful coincidence that the connective theme was mis/dis/malinformation and conspiracy theories in science/public health communication

Even the most thoughtful and activist-driven researchers get stuck using this toxic language, but often ONLY in funding proposals. They all end up sounding like what I started calling βdata vampires.β Been a useful phrase for giving feedback to undergrads AND grad students alike.

Kicked off fieldwork in Torontoβs St. James Town this AM! Happy to have my anthropologist hat back on after years of prep and pondering for my project, βTowards a Hyperlocal Future of Aging.β Many layers to the work, with lots of support from @miramcmaster.bsky.social, SSHRC and more!

I feel like my Halloween costume, The Wolfman Poet, is even more resonant this week. That erratic sense of too much energy and fear and sadness mixed with a desire to wear bright colours and showcase a sense of superficial style. So worried about where Canada might land in the next few months.
