A tweet from Twitter user @bookdellector posted on March 2, 2026, stating, โif thereโs one defining feature of what โwesternismโ is, it probably is the privilege to be as untethered from reality as you desire while being able to rely on such vast amounts of structural violence that you wonโt ever feel the effects of this afflictionโ
A trenchant tweet on 'westernism' ...
No one needs to walk away from Omelas if this guy is the one suffering.

Letterboxd screenshot Star Trek Into Darkness (2013) Watched by Branson Reese 28 Apr 2022 Abrams isn't a man so much as he's an avatar of cultural entropy. If you make something popular enough eventually you will die or sell it off and and a person in thick rimmed glasses whose main artistic vision is that he loves to have meetings will take it and sandblast it until it's nothing. I hate to see this happen here but maybe it's good that this happened. Maybe every franchise should collapse into a version of itself that makes shareholders nod and shake each others' hands. We should learn to speak in a language that rich people who don't dream can't comprehend.

Come for the remarkably seamless mashup of Sade and RATT, stay for the surprise Carlos Santana guitar solo: Rattรฉ - "Smooth OpeRATTor" youtu.be/V1E4Qdrjxi0
there is a post from the US gov 'department of war' on here that includes video of them actually murdering people and threatening to murder more people & it's been up since november
This is fucking gross
The last three reposts are what we'll call Representative Samples.
yes, Dems are 100% ok with it. if they werenโt, they wouldnโt have voted for it dozens of times or tried to hit Republicans from the right for not being โserious about the borderโ during the 2024 election or be totally abdicate fighting against it now. but they did all that, theyโre social fascists
hasn't aged well imo (sucked at the time)
Here's a long essay analyzing the recent emergence of rightwing critics of Israel. I argue that it is a bad idea for the Palestine solidarity movement in North America to seek any kind of alliance with those critics or to validate the ideologies they represent.

Epitaph on a Tyrant W. H. Auden 1907 โ 1973 Perfection, of a kind, was what he was after, And the poetry he invented was easy to understand; He knew human folly like the back of his hand, And was greatly interested in armies and fleets; When he laughed, respectable senators burst with laughter, And when he cried the little children died in the streets.
In so many places.
A liberal is someone who opposes every war except the current war and supports all civil rights movements except the one thatโs going on right now

The woman killed by ICE today was a poet. She won the 2020 Academy of American Poets, University & College Poetry Prize at Old Dominion University.
(And this is Renee from confirmed socials- a photo of a different woman with red lipstick is going around, but that was a classmate.)

A USPS mailbox in New York City
USPS quietly changed its postmark rules โ mail is no longer dated when you drop it off. The โofficialโ date is when it hits automated sorting โ sometimes days later
Which could have major implications for mail in voting โ itโs a clever way to disenfranchise voters thatโs going largely overlooked
The thing that gets me about this is that even if we wanted to make a positive AI ad, they never showcase AI being used to enhance someoneโs day or improve their workflow. Thereโs no โit allows me to more easily do what I love.โ Itโs always presented as a failsafe for the dispassionate and incurious
that "Their brains worked less, but they ๐ง๐ฆ๐ญ๐ต just as engagedโa kind of metacognitive mirage.โ jumped out at me. and just feels like such a capturing of current times. reminds me of watching a movie or TV show while second-screening โ you ๐ง๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ญ just as engaged, but are probably missing a similar 47%
you gotta remember that from a conservative perspective, these programs are a failure. they don't want to reduce homelessness, they want to punish homeless people. they'd pay 10x as much for that happily
Dusk On the pondโs troubled, murky face, gathered lotus leaves tremble, As the lotus leaves are coy, they hardly make a sound above a whisper. When they make a sound my heart trembles, my eyes trace the dim horizon... the dark, dark mountains merely loom. โ Once lost, things never return. Nothing could be as sad as this; the grass rootsโ smell wafts gently to my nostrils, the fieldโs earth and stones together looking at me. โ In the end, Iโm not willing to plough! Standing absent-minded in the dusk; somehow, when Fatherโs image sticks in my mind, I only advance a step or two. by Chลซya Nakahara translated from the Japanese by Paul Mackintosh and Maki Sugiyama from The Poems of Nakahara Chลซya, published in 1993 by Gracewing Books

The Bat By Ellen Bryant Voigt Reading in bed, full of sentiment for the mild evening and the children asleep in adjacent rooms, hearing them cry out now and then the brief reports of sufficient imagination, and listening at the same time compassionately to the scrabble of claws, the fast treble in the chimneyโ then it was out, not a trapped bird beating at the seams of the ceiling, but a bat lifting toward us, falling away. Dominion over every living thing, large brain, a choice of weaponsโ Shuddering, in the lit hall we swung repeatedly against its rising secular face until it fell; then shoveled it into the yard for the cat who shuttles easily between two worlds.
RIP Ellen Bryant Voigt
Lethal difficulty is already available. New Game+ and replayable areas will be added later, presumably a few months from launch.
