Separatists doing "easy math" treat federal taxes as "lost money" instead of the cost of operating a country.
You wouldn’t eliminate a level of government.

Where's the premier while MLAs rush through an all-night debate on stripping Albertans of their Charter rights?

I remember when conservatives turfed premiers for this level of hubris.
Let's be clear about what happened today.
Premier Smith introduced a bill to strip Albertans of Charter rights,
denied MLAs the opportunity to debate it and the courts the ability to scrutinize it,
and did all of this from her seat on a jet to Saudi Arabia.
Bill 1 asserts a power that all provinces have had for 90 years. Entirely symbolic and meaningless.
Coal royalties in 2024/25 were $15.5 million. The government has now paid out more than $200 million in claims to Australian mining companies for bungling this file.
When the election is long past and you still don't know who your councillor is, please remember it's because Danielle Smith's base doesn't like electronic vote tabulators (which are accurate, have been used for decades, and saved time and money).

The Conservative Party has lost its way. It needs to stop mimicking the exact same US narratives and stop creating fear and using exaggeration to make a case for being in power. This is Canada. We are smarter and not easily fooled and we have the benefit of seeing what’s happening to the south.

In responses to LWC, both sitting councillors Sonya Sharp (who is running for mayor) and Dan McLean (who is running again for councillor) say that the $87 billion is being funded by taxpayers.
Both sat in the council meeting where they were told this was not so at the end of term.
I can’t decide who to vote for!
Sharp, McLean, Wong and others, if elected, will be responsible for more expensive deals and sprawl. Is everybody ready for MUCH higher property taxes?
