Illustrations of four pottery vessels (somewhat light-bulb shaped), five potsherds, and one photograph of a circular piece of pottery (a lid).
NEW Ceramic vessels from Early Modern Slovenia, used in the production of mercury.
Examination of the pottery finds mercury production matched how it was described in Agricola's De re metallica, published in 1556, shedding light on this early industry.

In my paper, I explore how we can use ceramic data to investigate the role of medieval weekly markets and annual fairs in the distribution of pottery. This is largely based on some of my PhD research on the production and use of medieval pottery in the Vale of Pickering (Yorkshire).
