I love this quote βItβs not right or left, itβs right or wrong.β I could not agree more. βWe, the peopleβ applaud you Senator Booker. We want to Make America follow the Constitution again. Thank you for speaking for over 25 hours for all of us who believe in the checks and balances of America πΊπΈ
Congratulations! And thank you biomedical research for saving lives like hers!!
Our voices matter. Now more than ever. Biomedical research is for all of us. Thank you @phillymag.com for letting me share my voice.
Thank you for the opportunity to share our voices, Bradford!
Pic is my favorite @saquonbarkley.bsky.social play of the season.
Cures for cancer. New drugs to treat autoimmune disease. Life saving surgical advances to save trauma victims. Biomedical breakthroughs do not happen without direct costs and indirect costs. I hope for the health of my family and yours that the NIH cuts do not go through. Our lives depend on it.
The Philadelphia Eagles won the Super Bowl. The Birds are funded by direct costs and indirect costs. Direct costs are playersβ salaries. Indirect costs are everything else. Coaches, trainers, workout equipment, footballs, uniforms. Eagles could not have won the superbowl without indirect costs.
The Super Bowl opened with this video narrated by Brad Pitt. It calls for Americans to huddle up and come together. "By lifting others, that's how we rise up," I cried. I recommend taking the time to watch. It was a reminder of everything I love about America. πΊπΈ www.instagram.com/reel/DF3rFu7...

-Decrease in scientific discoveries that fuel the pharmaceutical industry. Many discoveries that lead to big pharma come from academia. This will lead to big cuts to the stock market, loss of jobs, and fewer new drugs making it to the market to treat all of us suffering from chronic disease.
-Likely major increases in college tuition
-Slower development of better treatments for devastating diseases like cancer, Alzheimerβs disease, mental health conditions, and addiction
-Serious understaffing of university-affiliated hospitals and childrenβs hospitals, leading to reduced access to timely medical care.
-Increased unemployment rates and reduced home values for communities proximal to universities and their affiliated hospitals.
These views are my own as a citizen in the state of Pennsylvania and do not reflect the views of my employer.
I personally cannot stress enough that this severe NIH cut will have a devastating impact on both rural and urban communities in red and blue states alike. The cut will lead to:

Itβs not much different in Philly right now. Very cold. We had flurries last night. So pretty βοΈ
Iβm excited to visit friends and colleagues in Medical and Population Genomics at the Broad Institute today. Quick flight PHL-BOS and then a fun day talking about science.
I had such a great time talking about the impact of AI on the workforce in medicine and more broadly. Thank you to @harrisbland.bsky.social and Kevin Johnson for inviting me!
She is a strong, intelligent 16 year old with great leadership skills. The struggle was real when she was a toddler, but after about age 6, she has been so fun to parent. Hang in there!
π€π My daughter was like that when she was little.
Iβve been thinking about this a lot lately. If the models train on too much garbage/bad data, how does it unlearn those patterns? Iβm not sure it does.
Congratulations! Your defense was phenomenal! I wish you all the best in your next chapter.
