Instead of finishing my damn dissertation, I wrote about the CJEU's decision to outlaw Malta's citizenship for investment scheme.
TLDR: The Court's conception of citizenship is more defensible than the legal reasoning it provided to reach what is an ethically desirable result.

Deporting your own citizens is plainly illegal.
But it is a logical step for a government that views its own citizens as enemies and is thus willing to trade their security and life for its own populist ends.
