Data centers are competing with TikTok influencers for our sympathy, it’s a tough choice
Opening tomorrow in Ghent: Unforgettable, a major exhibition at the MSK on women artists of the 17th-century Low Countries. More than 150 works reveal how painters, sculptors and lace-makers helped shape the Golden Age - even if art history later forgot them.
This is a far bigger fuel, fertilizer, food crisis for Asia and Europe than it is for the US.

A deranged, frat boy machismo sprinkled with delusional narcissism, toddler-level made up historical claims, libidinal celebration of cruelty and mind-numbing self-contradictions, ladies and gentlemen, the leader of the 'free world'.
Policing is very hard to justify if you think about it critically even a little.
"So how does Washington move partners it cannot honestly reassure? By manufacturing public pressure. A leak that frames Kurdish engagement as already underway creates expectations among regional audiences, among Iranian intelligence, and critically, within Kurdish political communities themselves."
This is a real video from the official White House account on a war that is currently killing people. I don’t know how the US is going to come back from this.
The post was “JUSTICE THE AMERICAN WAY. 🇺🇸 🔥”
My guess is you keep across the news. You know Andy Mountbatten-Windsor has just had the worst birthday ever; that tall hotels in Dubai don’t make for a great holiday right now; and that Keir Starmer’s engagements diary for 2027 will be remarkably clear. Still, there is one headline I’ll bet you haven’t seen, even though it directly affects your life. It’s about your life, and mine, and those of our families and friends and neighbours. I didn’t spot it either, until a few days ago when the Guardian ran a reader’s letter. It came from Alan Walker, a retired professor at the University of Sheffield. Why, he asked, hadn’t this newspaper made more of the latest “shocking” figures on healthy life expectancy? I looked up the report from the Office for National Statistics, and he’s absolutely right: the findings are indeed “momentous”, and they should be on the front pages, because they expose a serious truth about the state we’re in
The intro is also damning about our media ecosystem and its complicity in the death of democracy (or anything vaguely resembling it)

Shall we put together a platoon?”

"Unfortunately for us, we were right" λεγανε παλια
Πολύ πιθανό και λογικό όλο αυτό. Αλλα έχουμε την οποιαδήποτε ένδειξη πως κάθονται και υπολογίζουν λογικά, πραγματικά ή έστω εφικτά σενάρια; Ή βαδίζουν με βάση τι του έκατσε όταν ξύπνησε και την σιγουριά ότι λόγω υπεροπλίας θα βγουν από πάνω ότι και αν γίνει;
Α ναι.
Όλο αυτο προυποθέτει πως υπήρχε κάποιο χαρτί to start with.
Το θέμα εδώ και κάποιο καιρό είναι πως δεν έχει πλέον καμία σημασία τι λέει ο Τραμπ. Ειναι αδύνατο να βγάλεις συμπεράσματα ή να προβλέψεις τι θα γίνει γιατι αυτό που αρνείται την μια μερα, το υιοθετεί την επόμενη χωρίς δισταγμό. Και ανάποδα. Αν μεθαυριο χώσουν τον Παχλαβί πχ θα σου κάνει ενύπωση;
CJEU, asylum law
New judgment: Italy cannot unilaterally refuse transfers to it of asylum-seekers it is responsible for under the Dublin system. But given that it has done so, the Member State requesting the transfer becomes responsible instead after six months - curia.europa.eu/site/upload/... 1/
‘British expats, he claimed, were refusing to fill out evacuation forms provided by the British government “just in case it somehow turns into a tax form instead”.’

I am no longer sure which part is more disturbing and ominous: "AI psychosis" (a bizarre anthropomorphic euphemism for describing a stupid machine) or that people with mental issues confide (and listen) to AI bots.
cool pincer movement if you truly grasp:
AI & any concept relating to it like so-called guardrails are a scam in the deepest sense like a perpetual motion machine or a quija board — and not only a scam like a pyramid scheme which is a possible way to make money if you are first in first out

My friend, Bluesky is indeed difficult for a conversation but developing your own conclusions about what I am saying without any of it being related to what I have *actually* said is not the fault of Bluesky. As I said, this is the end of our 'conversation'. Stay well.
I have literally no idea why you would think that I suggest that the state was not involved, through policy or other means, in University education. Of course it was. But again this has nothing to do with the fact that academia has changed significantly in the last 70 years.
All that might be true -with the exception of the claim on Hayekian economics, whose influence only gained prominence in the 1970s- without in the slightest affecting the fact that the USSR was an authoritarian regime.
Lastly, I fail to see how a (materialist if you want) understanding of the transformation of academia in the last 70 years represents a 'cosy assumption'. But I increasingly get the impression that we are talking past each other so I will end this here. Stay well.
>> text on authoritarian liberalism for example. I am also not sure what the implication is when writing about 'abstract nouns'. We are having a word-limited exchange on the topic but there is an immense literature about the authoritarian character of the USSR from a radical left perspective. >>
