You know who's not in the Epstein files?
(cognitive revolution retroactively canceled)
I love how the most widely used and accepted psychological theory of intelligence is, fundamentally, theoretically incoherent

Just ran some statistical analyses (pre-registered ofc) and let me tell you, these correlations are juicy
The emphasis on biomarkers that APA is putting on DSM-6 is going to be an embarrassment on the same scale as keeping homosexuality in there until the late 80s
"Cognitive behavior therapy" (which is not one thing) can be done well, and, if done well, can be very effective.

Getting into "mutualism" (theory of intelligence)

I wrote about how studying Marx, the Black Radical tradition, and the Cappadocian Fathers led me to rediscover my faith, forgive the woman who killed my mother, embrace prison abolition, and champion the idea that none are saved unless *all* are saved!

This is so good. And extremely Blondelian.
"Ultimately, every world-image and every lived philosophy boils down to a fundamental Metaphysics of Action. This is the only lens through which the "human spirit" and "historical nature" can be seen in their true, organic union. 1/4
"It is perhaps only in the new Marxism that we find anything like Blondel's insistence on the role of sincere action as the only adequate expression of the idea." - James M. Somerville
"il n'ya pas d'integrisme sans sadomasochisme"
Henri De Lubac agrees
He did NOT go from writing the most existentially arresting book on Blondel to writing New Age slop for the Theosophical society.... π

Somerville on Blondel on how Christianity not only answers the exigencies of human action and the desires of the human heart, but also necessarily creates new desires in man [sic] that it also satisfies
Father, I'll rearrange my whole dang life if necessary to make this happen
None of the existing measures of psychological flexibility (AAQ-II, MPFI, PsyFlex) really capture psychological flexibility, whatever psychological flexibility is

Would you ever be open to doing a Zoom study on L'Action with some folks?
1) I have read approximately 60% of it! I actually found the parts on L'Action lacking... I did pick up his translation though.
2) I did NOT know he left the priesthood. That's reassuring to hear he remained a Catholic.
3) So cool you got to visit his grave!
I wonder if he ever felt pangs in his conscience. His later syncretic spiritual writings are definitely less severe than the parts about, like, choosing wrong in his book on Blondel.
His book on Blondel's "L'Action" is simply unmatched
My favorite (Anglophone) Blondelian was a former Fordham Jesuit who left the priesthood, the Catholic Church, married a New Age spiritual writer, founded a theosophy-adjascent publication, and was whose funeral service took place in a Baptist church π

Itβs cool how spiking a very high fever unlocks the part of the human spirit dedicated to prophecy, clairvoyance, telepathy, etc
Blondeloids, we need to get this back in print,
Need to read

I mean, yes, but would anyone besides Skinnerians deny that our identities motivate us?
Need to read

Christianity is, for Girard, religion inverted. It reveals what religion conceals. It speaks to horrific realities rather than archetypal myth. And, most importantly, because the Gospels are told from the standpoint of the innocent victim, it implicates rather than exculpates us.
If you need me I'll be on the computer devouring this special issue of the journal Dædalus
