14 years ago, my ex blew up our marriage by perving on kids online. Most of our friends didn’t believe me or didn’t think it warranted ending their friendship with him. 5 years ago, his 2nd marriage blew up when he was arrested in a sting. In 2026, I expect this dynamic but still don’t get it.

How are those laws working out for the folks that ICE is assaulting, kidnapping, and murdering in the streets? These are not normal times; we can’t apply normal laws to ourselves while those who wish to oppress us flout them with impunity.
The first amendment says “Congress shall make no law” … abridging the freedom of speech. It says nothing about whether we’re allowed to punch Nazis or not.
The first amendment protects you from the government taking action against you for your speech. It doesn’t protect you from consequences of saying something stupid. And yes—it doesn’t prevent people from punching Nazis. Also—I have yet to see us take our presidents to task for their war crimes.
This revolution isn’t televised, though—because the billionaires bought the media companies. They show the propaganda they want to show, and nothing more.
I’m not sure who this “you” refers to…but there were, in fact, people in the streets as soon as the oligarchs started hinting that they rigged the election. My countryfolk are also currently in the streets to protest domestic paramilitary invasions of our cities.
Is “not all Americans” an incorrect proposition? There’s almost 350 million people here…you’d think that there would maybe be some diversity of experiences and thought in a country this large? I, too, am sorry that we’re currently sending our worst to the world stage.

These days, there’s also the issue of potentially not being able to get back in if this admin doesn’t like you. We’ve all likely got a “loyalty score” (thanks Elon and Palantir)…and the customs agents are clearly allowed to do whatever they want to anyone who’s been declared an enemy.
It used to. It doesn’t really work like that here, anymore. I’ll admit that I’m on the privileged end of things and have traveled a bit—my spouse had an international music career before I met him, too. So we are worldly. But there are lots of educated people who can barely make ends meet, here.
I mean, that’s a bit of a broad brush. Lots of folks would probably love to see the world, but are currently choosing whether to spend their paychecks on food, rent, or health care. Plus not everyone gets paid time off.
Last I heard, we celebrate war veterans all the time. They do a lot worse than punch ppl who deserve it. And sometimes they even do stuff like this kid did…say…in WWII.
Back when we were kids, politicians would go on chat shows on Sunday mornings to talk about the issues of the week. Unfortunately, the issues of this time are…less civilized…than before… :/
My IG bubble is well curated. That day with the antisemitism, they must have been really pushing it across the whole platform. I haven’t seen much blatant stuff since…but folks would do well to remember that they use it to distract and divide us. If we’re looking left and right we’re not looking up.
There’s even a few (non-AI) tech tools that could be used to improve work and life for people if anyone cared to try. The best panelists at a recent “tech tools” conference were the ones who talked about improving human systems (culture, goal-setting, etc.) to use tools better.
Don’t forget ICE at the polls.
