Savannah, GA area phone zap call to action. Stop Sav police censorship of anti-ICE sentiment. On Tuesday, local artist and community member Zachery Turner was grabbed from behind by three SPD officers on Bull St. while walking his dog. Zachery was thrown to the ground, arrested, and injured for allegedly pasting โICE OUTโ stickers on public property, which if true, is a misdemeanor level offense worthy of a fine. Despite this, SPD has invoked 2 charges of felony destruction of government property (minimum 1 year in prison each) and an obstruction of justice charge for allegedly refusing to let go of his yorkieโs leash while being apprehended. Only 1 day after ICE initiated an illegal car chase that caused the death of beloved local teacher Dr. Linda Davis, SPD brutalized a community member and his dog, for allegedly invoking anti-ICE sentiment in public. As we all know, Bull street infrastructure is covered in stickers yet we rarely if ever see enforcement of anti-graffiti laws, outside of fines. This is a clear escalation by SPD to spread fear and censor justifiable public outcry against ICE and DHS. We need you to speak out against this censorship and not allow fascist support for illegal activities of ICE and DHS to fester here in Savannah. Btw Iโm not saying Iโm not guilty regarding vinyl stickers.. Iโve given it a LOT of thought & itโs the reason I aim for smallest batch production possible. I went through a manu with a 250 MOQ once and I will never do that ever again tbh
The skinny of it is- we SHOULD and NEED to care about the waste we contribute. Yeah big corps are mostly responsible but thatโs no excuse why the rest of us shouldnโt botherโฆ
I have so many thoughts about the indie/con circuit artist scene and the amount of plastic STUFF that gets (over!)produced, but it seems to hurt a lot of peopleโs feelingsโฆ one day I may try to articulate it.
