Anyway. Interesting. Where is this interview? I assume if it were easy to access your would have shared a link, but still I'm curious.

Hmmmmmmm.
Famously great for women, too, those circles. (Well. Can't speak to longevity.) I'm somehow interested to consider the connection with high fashion, which is supposedly such a feminine world, but... Also really not so women-friendly.
Kickstarter CEO: The Four Day Work Week Drives Productivity
βBefore introducing the scheme, Kickstarter reached 70% of its objectives, but this number has since increased to 90%.β
Itβs a win-win for workers and employers.
Itβs time for a 4-day week. β°
It felt like a power move. She didn't give any reason why the 3 offered alternatives didn't appeal, she just wanted to push for special treatment because "I'm paying, you do what I want."
Really awesome attitude there.
I was once in a large group (20-25 ppl) at a restaurant that had a very clear rule for big groups: you got a choice of 3 dishes only. This had been clearly communicated. One woman insisted on ordering from the wider menu. "It's not hard for them."
Nvm the chef, I definitely thought she was a cunt.
But that's human. I will gladly shout to my family I! HAVE DONE! ONE WHOOOOOLE PUSH UP! FEAR ME!
(I'm sounding SO negative! It's just that the early stages are really hard and you need to go into it eyes open. In my case I felt like I'd run out of other options, plus it was a long-standing dream so I basically had the business plan all ready to go. But it's very very scary.)
It's worth thinking about further if you really care about it. Spend time creating a business plan just so you know what you would do if you did it. Think about what you might do to accelerate success, safeguard your financial survival etc. But honestly drawing a salary isn't so bad.
And yeah that does mean you should expect to work WAY more hours than you're used to, and have limited social and family time (bc you have to keep fixed opening hours, plus do extra admin etc that you may not manage while tending to customers)... And no actual income
Common wisdom is that it takes 1-3 years to break even. So how are you to pay your rent in that time? It's a mystery.
To my (imperfect) knowledge, you can't get a loan without putting up your own capital as well, and your business plan should not include a salary for yourself.
Yeah. Really.
Speaking as a new shop owner: money IS an issue and I genuinely don't know how possible it is to do this without a large chunk of cash. (In my case, thanks to very supportive in laws, and yes I am very very very lucky.)
If I say exercise that sounds *incredibly* annoying, but the context is that I'm coming out of 2-3 years of minor yet surprisingly debilitating health issues that made it impossible to keep up activity. So yeah: since January I've been consistently working on reversing that and it feels *great*.
Except, this isn't a boycott. This is a mass transfer from one war loving brand to another war loving brand, enacted by a pro-AI faction of centrist effective altruists.
Sorry I'm not more open-minded about LLMs, it's just some fucking maniacs shoveled out a bunch of useless bloatware featuring that technology, did not give me any chance to opt out, reorganized the entire economy around it, zeroed out gains made by green energy, and made it impossible to buy RAM
The international boycott of ChatGPT has absolutely exploded.
2.5M people have already joined, and this is just the beginning.

My op-ed: www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...
Right there with you.
Damn. I'm sorry!
there's not really a point to this, i just wish non-tech people knew: every part of the web has become worse because of GenAI. Millions of SEO-optimized sites packed with cognitive asbestos. Companies taking down our services scraping every word they can find. Hardware is too expensive to buy...
Is it worth trying through deck.blue maybe? (My favourite way to access Bsky in any case.)
I have post-Teams traumatic syndrome. Deeply grateful to now be self-employed (oh please oh please may it last) and able to abjure it utterly. Deeply stressed that it still has a foothold in my kids' schools and sometimes... sometimes that means it has a foothold in me.
I am so scared of buttonholes. Tbf I am scared of most things in dressmaking. But especially buttonholes. Well done you on showing them who's boss!
Nice work!
The AIDS epidemic seemed like it would never end. Entire families died here in South Africa; I have friends who spent every weekend in the late 90s and early 2000s at funerals.
Now look at the vaccine science of the past decade and how far we've come. Incredible.
Such blind trust in technological "authority"
SERIOUSLY
Like how weird is it that people genuinely don't think facts matter?
Does it have to be hockey? I think Elliot Page is producing a lesbian softball show...
So cute and so weird, I love it
It's very addictive. Slow going but there's such a great balance of goals, quests and sometimes truly startling weirdness
My 16yo is currently on a renewed AC binge but it just makes me want to play Stardew Valley.
