Labour continues to pledge to cut the disability benefits bill, despite a High Court ruling which found that the previous government's consultation into the plans was unlawful. In light of these findings how can we possibly allow that to happen?

I support it. I just don’t trust this government, or future governments, to not exploit it. The focus on β€œworking people” and negative language aimed at those on benefits, pushing the disabled to work, looks like they’re preying on the vulnerable. I hope intentions are good but worry they’re not.

In principle, I’ve always thought assisted dying was something that should be available, assessed rigorously on an individual basis, but in practice, I really don’t want to see it brought into law because I don’t trust any government to manage it effectively, or not to exploit it for their benefit.

The coordinated assault on Bluesky comes from Twitter and the Media because it is not owned or controlled by them.

Which is the worst thing possible, actual Free Speech.

I think it speaks volumes that right wingers criticize bluesky for being β€œliberal” and β€œleft wing”, when it’s really just that hate speech isn’t allowed.

She’d Dance
Β
She’d dance like no one was watching
although she liked to think he was.
The kitchen was her grand ballroom;
her partner was a mop.
Β
She’d foxtrot among the pots and pans,
she’d paso doble to the sink,
and as she swept across the floor,
her mind danced, too. She’d think
Β
of how he’d held her in his arms
at the Locarno and the Ritz -
whirling, waltzing, a world apart -
in the years before the kids,
Β
and longer still before the shadow
the doctor spotted on his lungs.
How dazzlingly they had danced!
How dizzyingly she had spun!
Β
Her neighbours saw her sometimes,
shuffling bent-backed to the shops.
But at home, she’d dance like no one was watching
although she liked to think he was.

I'm totally OK with being called woke. It just means that I'm showing off my green flags. Happy to follow others with green flags.

With a fully remote team of just 20 employees, Bluesky has surpassed 20 million users in its first year since opening to the public and is stealing thunder from rivals hundreds of times its size.

At a time when conventional wisdom among bosses is that workers must be in-person to be productive.

A poem by Langston Hughes titled "Tired". It reads as the following:

"I am so tired of waiting,
Aren't you,
For the world to become good
And beautiful and kind?
Let us take a knife
And cut the world in two --
And see what worms are eating
At the rind."

I've been thinking about this poem by Langston Hughes recently and although it was published in 1931, it remains relevant as ever.

Your voice matters, your VOICE matters.

Do not whisper about the things you care about.

Listen to you inner child, they will show you the way.

Kindness isn't weakness.

Do not be afraid to take the road less travelled.

Life is fleeting, what will you do with the time you have?

I’ve always had trans mates since the early 90s, when I was in the first lived experience pilot. It was seen as a threat, and we were utterly loathed, with the whole hospital waiting for us to break down (which, of course, happened). A trans nurse became our one ally. Difference supports difference.
