Just so I'm clear on this, computer memory has tripled in price because a bunch of it that hasn't been produced yet has been ordered to populate GPUs that aren't installed in data centers that aren't built yet in order to service a demand that doesn't exist to make profits that don't happen.

This is also assuming that what you want to watch is easily available to buy on physical media. The reason I first dipped my toes into streaming is because a couple of shows I wanted to watch on demand weren't available on DVD. They aren't currently over a decade later, either.
I think we overestimate how many people got into DVDs specifically because of on demand convenience and not because they actually want to perpetually hoard physical discs that they only plan to watch once or twice. That's assuming they have a secure enough living space to have a physical library.
Maybe it "doesn't feel like Christmas anymore" because for the past 25 years culture warrior crybabies have been sucking all the fun out of it. Getting mad at Sbux cups and people for saying "happy holidays". And celebrating the holiday as statement rather than having good will towards man.
