Here are just a few of the sights from new faculty orientation at Baylor University as I transition into an expanded role.
Itβs a great joy and honor to continue the work Iβve been doing in an expanded role this fall alongside more than 100 new faculty!
Grateful to see these words finding their way into the world!
Thank you for picking this up, Anna, and for sharing your initial reflections!
Until next time, Vancouver.
Iβve now spent half of my life traveling to and from the Pacific Northwest and Cascadia for various reasons. What began as an itch to ask a different type of question about #PostChristendom has become a space meaningful connections and hope.
We open #PathwaysToBelonging by talking about how belonging is an invitation to reality. Belonging is not simply a feeling, or a sense; it is a reality we all need. It is also a reality we have the opportunity to foster and offer in our lives and in our communities.
Pathways to Belonging is out in the world! Do you have your copy? We'd love to see it! Post a picture in the comments and spread the joy!
If you haven't picked up a copy yet, copies are available at Wipf and Stock Publishers, Amazon, or your local bookstore. (My favorite is Red Balloon Bookshop!)
Dr. Willie James Jennings offers a beautiful foreword to Pathways to Belonging, co-edited with Erin Weber Johnson & Glen Bell. His words are π₯π₯π₯π₯
Here and elsewhere, his writing invites all of us to participate in Godβs ongoing work of making and remaking our sense of belonging.
Check it out!
This line of thought provided some initial fodder for our new book #PathwaysToBelonging, as our authors pick up this theme and expand it in beautiful ways.

Thereβs been a growing conversation about two threads: 1) Bonhoefferβs life, work, and witness and 2) our shared longing for belonging.
I tried to pull these threads together a few years ago in a reflection, and I share it for those who may have an interest.

Delighted to share it is PUBLICATION day for this book!
In a time when belonging is called into question and we all long to belong, Pathways to Belonging is an invitation to imagine and embody another way, exploring the promise and peril of Christian belonging.
Iβm looking forward to joining the Centre for Missional Leadership for a conversation about #friendship and #loneliness in ministry.
