Thank you so much!! <3
Thank you so much!! <3
Alright iβm gonna try to be more active but uni (especially anatomy class) is kicking my butt right nowβ¦
We have an oral exam basically every other day and itβs just a lot of material, so Iβm trying to stay away from my phone as much as possible.
How are you if you see this? :)
turns out you need a lot of wire
had a fun lecture today, watching my friends dog and learning about how to fix a broken jaw in a horseπΆπ

Long train rides are so exhausting even though all I do is sit there
A juvenile giraffe looking at the camera with some very green hills and a blue sky in the back.
What are you looking at?!
Did you know that giraffe tongues typically get up to between 40 and 50cm?
They use them to grab leaves and branches to munch on.

To be clear, Iβm not assigned to either of those things, but the stories I hear and what I witnessβ¦people are so rude
Working at the vet office can be so exhausting, because people are exhausting.
The person sitting at reception or answering the phone isnβt responsible for whateverβs going on in your lifeβ¦
I get life is frustrating and you may be emotional but donβt yell at people who arenβt at fault at all.
Sunsets in South Africa are just special.
When I volunteered in South Africa we had to get up early each morning to monitor the animals and one of the big upsides was that saw the sunrise every day.

Youβre right! I wish the game vehicle wasnβt in the picture and it was just the incredible hyenas, but itβs the reality for a lot of encounters in South Africa.
This reserve already has strict policies about the number of vehicles, the distance and all that but it still felt like too much at times.
Perhaps the most misunderstood animal in all of Africa.
Spotted hyenas are very successful hunters and help clean the ecosystem they live in by eating carcasses and thereby reducing the spread of diseases.

Never annoy the secretary!
Secretary Birds kill their prey by stomping on it. Their diet is made up of small mammals, reptiles, birds, large insects, and even snakes (including venomous ones).

It really isnβt! Hope you get better soon :)
iβm sick with the flu but iβll be back to regular posting soon hopefully
I love this!
Have you ever seen a baby hippo that thinks itβs a rhino?
This is Charlie. He was raised in a rhino orphanage and then later released into the wild.
Hereβs the video of him in the orphanage:

To be clear, we stopped at a safe distance away from the elephants and just observed them. They moved towards our car on their own and for everyoneβs safety we shut the vehicle off and remained quiet and calm.
Never carry food when observing elephants and give them space.

Encounters with Elephants should always happen on their terms.
This is Apollo, my favorite desert elephant in Damaraland, Namibia.
Heβs a juvenile bull, that can be identified by his broken right tusk and the big cut in his right ear.

iβm trying to find one now so that i can practice before i get the chance to photograph some primates this summer! itβs a once in a lifetime opportunity so i really want to have a good camera :))
does anyone have a camera recommendation that doesnβt cost an arm?
i know theyβre expensive and iβm willing to pay some money but not an endless amount, considering iβm still practicing and wouldnβt use half the functions.
whatβs most important to me is thatβs itβs good for photographing wildlife!
Got a spontaneous message from work here back at home today asking if i could work some shifts this week, so i will be at the vets every day. Might share some pictures of that if itβs interesting to anyone :)
An African wild dog standing on a dirt road in iMfolozi - South Africa. This is the dominant male of the pack.
Look whoβs all earsβ¦
The big ears on African wild dogs help dissipate excessive heat and cool their body down. The larger external part also functions as a funnel to collect sound for better hearing.

A bit of snack with your sand?
Elephants will stand on their hind legs and repeatedly push trees to get fruit to fall down and in the desert that means they consume a fair amount of sand with their food.

Yeah itβs definitely interesting. Theyβre very vulnerable so i guess you also donβt see it too much.
But hereβs proof haha:
Did you know that giraffe sleep laying down?
In Namibias Damaraland we saw a lot of them laying down in the shade or hiding from the sun behind big bushes and trees.

Thank you! Thatβs what i thought. Iβll look into making one that i like :)
Should i add a watermark to my pictures? I donβt knowβ¦
