new mcmansion hell to cleanse the horrors: mcmansionhell.com/post/8099372...
The article briefly mentions it, but personally I don't care what Lud's status was. Every post about his situation has wriggling weirdos underneath asking about it & I reject the xenophobic premise of their question. Immigrants are a positive good and Lud should be celebrated, safe, & protected
I vividly remember seeing this one aired on TV as a kid, me and my brother both laughed our asses off immediately
I know floating players in bracket isn't a popular idea but how about if we float Cody and Jmook all the way to semis next Genesis and make everyone else run an insane gauntlet instead
‘Xenogears’ is 'difficult' to describe and 'almost impossible' to enjoy.
legitimately one of the most beautiful games ever made
like, you don't need to do anything more than this. that's the ideal visual style.
Your guide to getting around at #GX3 🗺️🫶
Here is the map of the venue space for this weekend!
fighting games are something so beautiful
I can't wait to be a useless piece of shit and play video games all day after Genesis. I think the schedule is gonna be something like
Terranigma -> Advance Wars: Dual Strike -> Shadow of the Colossus -> LA Noire
You might know it by its more common name, "Kroger's"
Clapping my flippers together and honking like a harbor seal when a Super Bowl ad for a condiment or gambling app featuring two celebrities unexpectedly reveals a third celebrity as its punchline. Bouncing a ball around on my snout. My wife has to throw me a herring to get me to calm down.
Wtf where are you seeing this. I only follow 1 manul account on Twitter but I don't get that vibe from the others that come up either. I don't want to have to change my profile header image

ten years ago today no one clapped
I had a dream last night that I was teaching high school and was explaining to kids how a floppy disk worked (the actually-floppy 5 1/4 kind), and the game on the disk was something like "Luigi: the Mario Toad Golf"
This is it. SSBMRank 2025 concludes by presenting the best Melee players of 2025.

Hetfield regarding Load's album cover: "Lars and Kirk were very into abstract art, pretending they were gay. I think they knew it bugged me."
I think it's funny as fuck they trolled him like that.
He lived in Novato for a while and was an ass by the few accounts local I've heard

Trump-administration officials and MAGA influencers have repeatedly called these activists “violent” and said they are involved in “riots.” But the resistance in Minnesota is largely characterized by a conscious, strategic absence of physical confrontation. Activists have made the decision to emphasize protection, aid, and observation. When matters escalate, it is usually the choice of the federal agents. Of the three homicides in Minneapolis this year, two were committed by federal agents. “There’s been an incredible, incredible response from the community. I’ve seen our neighbors go straight from allies to family—more than family—checking in on each other, offering food and rides for kids and all kinds of support, alerting each other if there’s ICE or any kind of danger,” Malika Dahir, a local activist of Somali descent, told me. If the Minnesota resistance has an overarching ideology, you could call it “neighborism”—a commitment to protecting the people around you, no matter who they are or where they came from. The contrast with the philosophy guiding the Trump administration couldn’t be more extreme. Vice President Vance has said that “it is totally reasonable and acceptable for American citizens to look at their next-door neighbors and say, ‘I want to live next to people who I have something in common with. I don’t want to live next to four families of strangers.’” Minnesotans are insisting that their neighbors are their neighbors whether they were born in Minneapolis or Mogadishu. That is, arguably, a deeply Christian philosophy, one apparently loathed by some of the most powerful Christians in America.
One thing I found deeply moving about resistance in the Twin Cities was the universalism of loving your neighbor, the philosophy driving the opposition to the ICE/BP invasion. I couldn't help but notice the contrast with the blood and soil-ism of Miller and Vance. www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/0...

I think most of all this is a great example of how to engage with a game as a piece of art instead of a fun thing to do, and you can't help but come away from it without seeing XG as an honest attempt to probe the fundamental questions of humanity around how we understand ourselves and other people.
Having played XG 3 times at very different points in my life (the last time about 15 years ago) it's incredible how much more you get out of it each time and this 40 hour analysis series showed me that maybe I'd understood about 25% of it so far.
The Resonant Arc playthrough/analysis of Xenogears I think has to be the best piece of game analysis media I've ever seen. Mike and Casen do a fantastic job of researching interviews, production materials, and the many many ways religion and psychology come up in XG

wikipedia turns 25 today! the last unenshittified major website! backbone of online info! triumph of humanity! powered by urge of unpaid randos to correct each other! somehow mostly reliable! "good thing wikipedia works in practice, because it sure doesn't work in theory" - old wiki adage
