One thing I feel ought to be discussed more is the fact that basically all rural and suburban places in the US are subsidized by cities. They resent cities. They insult cities. They elect politicians who abuse cities. But none of them could survive without cities.

Kinda makes you wonder whether all the sweaty, performative talk about "self-reliance" and all the hatred directed at urbanites is about a deep subconscious awareness of their dependence. Maybe they recognize on some level that they can't hack it on their own.

Yep. And now with his Cuba rants, it’s clear he wants, he needs something to happen on American soil.

This is what happens when you give the people hope… when you make their lives easier, not harder… when you listen to what they say… when you care.

AFP: "It breaks my heart": UN humanitarian chief Tom Fletcher says "we're seeing staggering amounts of money, reportedly a billion dollars a day” being spent on the Middle East war, rather than addressing the world’s “huge humanitarian caseload.”

Even red states are defiantly rejecting DOJ’s demands for private voter data “Election officials across the political spectrum stood up to protect state sovereignty and voters’ security, regardless of partisanship,” voting rights advocate David Becker told Democracy Docket.

Earlier this week, Idaho became the latest state to push back against the U.S. Department of Justice’s campaign to seize the private voter data of every state. www.democracydocket.com/analysis/eve...

I told a neighbor that I don’t feel safe in this country, and he asked me what would make me feel safe. I said “a civil society”. He could not understand that that was more important to me than shooting someone out of existence.

Dear NEH Grantee,
This letter provides notice that the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) is terminating your federal grant (Grant Application No. FEL29509824) effective April 3, 2025, in accordance with the termination clause in your Grant Agreement.
Your grant no longer effectuates the agency's needs and priorities and conditions of the Grant
Agreement and is subject to termination due to several reasonable causes, as outlined in 2CFR§200.340.
For instance, NEH has reasonable cause to terminate your grant in light of the fact that the NEH is repurposing its funding allocations in a new direction in furtherance of the President's agenda. The President's February 19, 2025 executive order mandates that the NEH eliminate all non-statutorily required activities and functions. See Commencing the Reduction of the Federal Bureaucracy, E.O. 14217 (Feb. 19, 2025). Your grant's immediate termination is necessary to safeguard the interests of the federal government, including its fiscal priorities. Any objections or appeals to this termination will be managed in strict accordance with the President's Executive Orders,

Last year, this guy (left) from DOGE used ChatGPT to find NEH grants that were too “DEI” for Trump, and canceled them, including mine, as shown by the letter I received last April (right). Huge new NYT article on the back story link below

The truth is…

America can’t claim to be the innovators anymore.

After ten years of rule by pedophiles and billionaires, we’ve lost the edge.

BYD just put Tesla out of business, everywhere but here.

The world gets innovation, we get crapola.
