My favorite quote from this article, "The responsible question for schools to ask is What does the research say about the best ways to teach and learn? AI mania has many instead asking, How can AI help teaching and learning?"
That's the way!
If you have even the smallest interest in AI, I cannot recommend Empire of AI by Karen Hao enough. Written in true investigative journalism form, it will remind hyper-optimists to be more sober-minded, and for extreme-pessimists, it may be even worse than you thought! Stay informed. Stay diligent!
Most educators have not actually read (or read into) OpenAI's mission statement. Take a look. What to you notice? What do you wonder? openai.com/charter/

Have you ever considered using Al to vet Al? This concept is a key activity Ken and I explore in our book, and it's a crucial exercise for school leaders. We invite you to use this resource and even contribute your own insights: padlet.com/deelanier/aiconcerns

It's also part of the no snitching fallacy. Street rules: 1. you don't snitch in order to take a plea for yourself and incriminate others 2. you don't snitch out of fear of retaliation 3. you don't snitch because the streets will take care of it, not law enforcement.

As the old people say, "I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired." And I'm getting older every day. Let's discuss #EduSky
If only these event organizers took into account the student demographics represented at their conferences. Who can call them on it though? How can anyone offer feedback or suggestion if the critique can simply be dismissed as a "DEI agenda"?
I attend too many edu conferences that I literally walk around counting the Black people I see over a multi-day event. The last one I attended I counted 9 over two days. There were a couple thousand people total.
I've been holding back on my thoughts concerning DEI rollbacks because it's simply tiring to keep fighting and fighting and fighting. That said, it's insidious on so many levels to take away policies and prior commitments to increase DIVERSITY, EQUITY, and INCLUSION.

"Post truth is pre fascism"
I think my point may have been missed or maybe the snark was intentionally avoided. More direct- I find it interesting teachers are celebrated for using AI for time savings but students aren't celebrated for doing the same. Esp if both are just trying to complete tedious work.
Now ask this question to students
Know the difference between generative and predictive AI! To be clear, the latter is much more devastating.
