Royal Borough of Greenwich has made an order for a road closure in Abbey Wood Road, outside no’s 27-31, to facilitate Southern Gas Networks who are using a trenchless method of works to maintain the gas network.
The Order is for 13/03/2026 The works are expected to take 4 weeks.

Abbey Wood Residents-The Royal Borough of Greenwich has made an order for a road closure in Penmon Road, to facilitate Thames Water completing sewer cleaning.
The Order would come into force on 1st March 21:00. The works are expected to take 1 night.

Beginning Monday 12th January, the Acute Sickle Cell Unit (ASCU) at University Hospital Lewisham transitioned to operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Thanks to all NHS staff for their work for us all. @Royal_Greenwich @SickleCellUK
A new Superloop express bus route linking Abbey Wood and North Greenwich will launch on Saturday, with passengers travelling for free during its first week. The SL11 replaces the 472 and will run more frequently, with buses every 6 mins weekdays and Saturdays.

Elizabeth Line closure to affect Woolwich and Abbey Wood this weekend
Rail travellers from Woolwich and Abbey Wood will face disruption this weekend (circa 15th & 16th) as the Elizabeth Line closes for engineering works.

There will be planned highway works in Brampton Road (between West Heath Road and A206, Woolwich Road) during Nov 2025.
