I can't comment on usefulness to professionals and academics or overall value for money, but it seems to me that there must be a role for raspberry shakes to augment the relatively sparse national networks. They are relatively cheap and from around 1 to 50 Hz have been shown to produce good data.

The advantage of the raspberry shake is that it is in Constantine, very close to the earthquake focus. There is only one nearby publicly avaliable seismometer, the BGS broadband station at Carnmenellis. Avalon have downhole devices nearby at Rosemenowes Quarry. I suspect they collect the best data.

Swarm of 20 earthquakes at Constantine in Cornwall on January 27th and 28th 2024.
On 2024-01-28 BGS Seismology reported seven earthquakes at Constantine, Cornwall, UK the largest being a M1.6. Using Obspy cross-correlation, with the largest two events as templates, I identified 20 events on Raspberry Shake RD884. A swarm of earthquakes also occurred at Constantine on 2023-02-24.
