Best Wishes for a Happy thanksgiving
Happy American Thanksgiving!
Happy Halloween!
An early Halloween postcard! I have been using my Grandmother’s Postcard Collection to inform my Family History. This one was mailed in 1908 to Newfoundland from Rosebank NY, USA: To Carrie from Cousin Lily. Finding Lily has sent me down a rabbit hole!!
Honoured to hear you speak!
Just tried to get it but sadly this opportunity is only available on UK Amazon. I must keep an eye ob it though. Thanks.
Looking forward to hearing about the project that you are working on!
I’m hoping to learn more about Y DNA testing this weekend! Some interesting speakers lined up for our local Family History Society Conference. I wonder if my brother would do it??#genhour
I guess .tiff is best format? I did start off with jpegs until I learned about .tiff! Will eventually go back and redo some of the jpegs! I store on an external SSD and in the cloud.
I’m not an expert. I take a pic of the album pages then carefully remove the photos. I scan them, put each in an archival sleeve, number them and put in an archival shoebox. The shoeboxes can hold a LOT of photos. Saves a lot of space!
Makes sense. I’m discovering that. I’m pretty sure someone I am trying to trace most likely changed their name (maybe after being adopted?) plus moved from England to Newfoundland in 1820s. Still hoping to find a thread in a maritime record. So kind of you to reply to me, thanks.
As a newbie to the genealogical world I don’t understand your statement about looking for the wrong name. Any clarification appreciated!
Ok thanks! I will see if I can join in this coming Thursday!!
Hi! I’m not exactly sure what a #genhour chat is but thanks for the comment above. I was reviewing some of my prior work and I sure made mistakes/omissions etc but spotting them tells me my work is improving!
Happy Easter! This 1912 #postcard is from my grandmother’s collection! The messages and postmarks on the postcards are really helping me enhance my family history research.
As a relatively new family history researcher I am overwhelmed with the plethora of research sources. So difficult to stay focussed - I constantly go off on tangents then forget how I got there!
Liked your talk! Incredibly complex aspects of researching in England and Wales. So much to learn.
Happy Flag Day Canada!
Thank you so much for your talk this evening. It was very informative for me. I will certainly be putting some of your strategies into practice in the hopes that I can break through at least one of my “brick walls”!
Enjoyed your talk tonight. Thanks.
So… seems like I have roots in Bere Regis. Tracing the women is brutal.
Researching ancestors from #Dorset and #Devon so much #familyhistory to discover! New to Bluesky.
