6 mile headwind along the Dee with no shelter. Not fun! At least I made it in time for Kev Roberts' presentation.
Fast descent to the Harp at Neston with views over the Dee to the Clwydians. Excellent pint of Landlord
New pub tick at the Royal Oak in Neston. Seems like a nice community pub and the Abbot was surprisingly good. Nice malty notes for a cold day.
Back on the Wirral Way. Done a good job on the replacement Windle Hill Bridge. Always enjoy the old cutting, can imagine the old steam trains down there
Having to fit a ride in between pub opening and kick off is tricky. 30 miles today is the plan so got to the Nags in Willaston bang on opening. Trappers the pick of the beers π»
Onto the Wirral Way. I love exploring new tracks but this short cut was too muddy for my hybrid tyres. Ah well, still a nice diversion.
Passed the hell hole of Cheshire Oaks to the Capenhurst back lanes. Wooden sculptures with the original pinfold in the background. Lovely to see wildlife boxes and what look to be the gorgeous native daffodil.
ah the downside of technology
I reckon a mooch up the Wirral is a good plan for today's prematch ride. Pub I've not done for a long time plus a gamble on a couple of first visits. π²π»π²π»π²π»π²β½οΈ
get the miles in the bank so you can go further when the good weather comes ππ²
Did similar for my local river a couple of years ago. Got another 2 lined up to do. Good adventures and generally all downhill!
Sorry not been to the centre there for years. Bridge St Alehouse was the best I remember. Mellards looks worthy for cask and a draught real cider. Crossways similar.
Just reading the Camra Heritage Pubs bulletin it says the Herculeum Bridge in Liverpool has closed to drinkers. B&B only now. Sad to hear but a reason why I'm visiting and publicising as many as I can. I visited there just in time.
Use them or lose them!
Train tickets secured for Kiddy away next week. That will be a Bathams day for sure with another of their pubs on the hitlist via a bus.

shame about the stupid name, keep hoping they will change it back
saw the orange man baby talk this morning, not seen him talk for ages as I try to ignore him. Definitely different pattern of speech, bet some medical people can see some interesting signs
Regular prematch stop at the Sandstone. Had the stout at the Deva Tap last night so gone for the other two
Wind doing me no favours so a stop at the Nags Head Lavister. Always the Nags to me, home of Camra @rogerprotz.bsky.social . Cwtch had gone but the other two were very drinkable.
Dee still very high at the border. Sad to see the Griffin at Trevalyn all tinned up
usual route to these parts. nice back lanes π
Just up the road next to the Raven. Had a Raven honking at me on the cycle down so very fitting. Nice pair of beers but those glasses look tiny!
Hair of the dog at the Hare in Farndon. Feel a bit perkier now. Beers always excellent here
Yup handy for Central station. 12-4 you get 2 courses for Β£11. Just the job π
A visit there is long overdue π. I also bagged this tasty @thornbridge.bsky.social when taking advantage of the lunch menu deal at Bundobust. Good day all round
Grey, wet and cold on the usual route to Farndon. Sun came out at Aldford but the gnomes had given up and all gone inside. nice views to Moel Famau on the Clwydians
Don't fancy any exercise or beers yet this morning π₯΄. Got a 20+ mile prematch pub pedal to do though. Sure it will be fun!
One thing to note here is the cask beers are spread out in different places. I didn't spot the Boltmaker on this magnificent copper-fronted bar until the crowds had cleared and I was heading for the train.
