The amazing Shana Priwer and I are excited to announce the publication of our latest book! Physics 1 for Dummies (4th edition) is now available in bookstores & online. This is a great supplement to your student's high school physics class, or a fun refresher on motion & forces & pressure.
I didn't hear anything I could definitively say was a sonic boom.
Gorgeous view of the NASA SpaceX Crew-11 reentry from my driveway in Southern California tonight!
Resharing a fun, recent conversation!

Curious about Europa Clipper's observations of interstellar comet 3I/ATLAS? Come hear me talk about them in this @setiinstitute.bsky.social livestream today at 2:30 PT / 5:30 ET! youtube.com/live/cXqwsc2...
Awesome picture of interstellar comet 3I/ATLAS as taken by a spacecraft orbiting Mars!
NASAβs fleet of Mars spacecraft will attempt observations of 3I/ATLAS as it passes by Mars on October 3! Stay tuned for results.
Pro tip: get on the waiting list for the next few now :)

Europa Clipper observesβ¦. Mars? Yes, on its cruise to the Jupiter system, Europa Clipper swung by Mars for a gravity assist and captured this cool image of Mars and its two tiny moons.
Four charts showing the extent of cuts to NASA in the FY26 budget:
- Cuts to every science division
- Smallest science funding since 1984
- 19 active, inflight missions cancelled
- Smallest NASA budget since FY 1961
BREAKING: The president's budget request just hit Congress, which could usher in a dark age for NASA space science.
Congress has the final say, but you can help shape the outcome by adding your name to our global petition.
This is just the start of our fight.

That is super cool!!
She might like this podcast I did about the possibility for life on Jupiter's moon Europa! It's part of the Terrestrials podcast for kids, from NPR's Radiolab. I'm joined by the US Poet Laureate. www.wnycstudios.org/podcasts/rad...
Yeah, unfortunately there are no engineering cameras on Europa Clipper.
Is there potential for life on Jupiter's moon Europa? Let's ask a NASA expert... oh, that's me! #planetsci π§ͺπ www.youtube.com/watch?v=wfzm...
Next stop for Europa Clipper: Mars??? Thatβs right, we are doing a rare Mars gravity assist on March 1st to help pick up speed on our journey out to the Jupiter system. More info and cool animations below!
If you get it, let me know what you think! π
Europa ICONS is still funded and applications are open until 2/28 if you have interested undergrads! science.nasa.gov/planetary-sc...
Space science is for everyone!
I definitely approve of Europa orbiting the Earth - Clipper should be there already, though not sure if the ocean will still be there?? Brb gotta check my telescope :)
It was a great pleasure to participate in this video about Europa for Crayola's Creativity Week, up today! The video features myself, Astrobiologist David Grinspoon, @drfunkyspoon.bsky.social, US Poet Laureate Ada Limon, and illustrator Peter Sis! creativity-week.squarespace.com/events-calen...
Lovely and powerful words. Thanks for writing this β€οΈ
Ganymede's cool and all but Europa has a giant ocean of liquid water - more water than all Earth's oceans combined - close enough to the surface to interact with it, great chemistry at the icy surface from radiation, and even more chemistry at the rock layer at the bottom of the ocean.

Canβt we please live in precedented times for awhile? Evacuated from the latest LA fire yesterday, back home safe now but this is ridiculous. Picture taken by my neighbor yesterdayβ¦
Congrats!!! Thatβs a really big deal - and of course well deserved!
