Every time I get a notification from the New York Times I dread opening it because it's often something truly f*c$Ed.
But sometimes it's just telling me that having a dog is good for your health.

Bring meth manufacturing back to the USA!
I’m sick. Coughed all night, bad headache, fever, no appetite, slept til 11 this morning and I’m ready to go back to bed at 1:30, and I have a midterm to do by Tuesday.
Send pet pics, sympathy, and soup please.
Anesthesiologist here.
No.
Every time I check for app updates on my phone and iPad I guess how many updates there will be.
Trying to decide what’s the correct reward if I guess correctly.
Maybe a slice of red velvet cake.
I went out Monday after work and filled my tank. This afternoon I’m going to pull my bike in from the patio, pump up the tires and lube the chain.
I’d ask my mom about that but she’s dead from metastatic breast cancer.
On a whim I added a box of Jello sugar free pistachio pudding to my shopping cart, mixed it up with 2 cups of (soy) milk like the instructions said and OMG how have I lived this long without ever having found this magical stuff!
signs of hyperthyroid, plan is to do nothing but watch and only act if he shows signs of something wrong.
Which is easy to do because he demands I pay attention to him almost every time I sit at my desk.
Today was crappy up until a few minutes ago. Spent much time at work but didn't accomplish much, was out of my stash of protein bars so had nothing to eat and came home horribly hungry.
Then my vet called with the cat's lab results-Cr actually went down, thyroid creeping up but he's got no clinical
My cat is sitting on the desk next to me, purring, and occasionally reaching out and touching me. I think he wants me to go to bed so he can lie on top of me.
BE STILL MY HEART!!!
IT'S THE MOST WONDERFUL TIME AGAIN!!!!!!
I will have to go get some before half-price candy day because my friend won't be able to grab me a few bags from her job at Rite Aid.
Go look at YouTube for sign language interpreters for Hip Hop concerts.
Especially this one. youtu.be/wNovRSCxYtI?...
Read at least the first and maybe the second for a monthly Zoom social event-they are well worth the time.
Reports from others in the group are that as the series progresses you learn more about all the major and minor characters, who will become more than you expect.
He's almost back to baseline-complaining about everything until it's time for a nap. Tail is still at half mast though. But I have never been happier to hear him purring and nagging at me than I was yesterday afternoon.
Has to start wars before he can stop them.
They sign out to another clinic for evenings and weekends. I looked up the med, and the effects last longer in older cats or cats with reduced kidney function, and he's both.
I'm going to watch for now. If he isn't showing improvement by later today I may take him to the emergency clinic.
My favorites were a neurosurgical consult note on a 5 yo that concluded "I spent 45 minutes face to face with patient and his pants"
And the journal article that discussed post op "parental nutrition".
Or the surgeon who made a decision in the umbilicus.
Or wound debridement and interrogation.
squatted for several minutes. His appetite is not great. I carried him into the bedroom last evening but he promptly jumped off my bed and returned to his tower.
I don't know if this is lingering effects from the meds yesterday, or did he fall out of the tower and injure himself.
to find him sprawled on the floor next to the tower. And he staggered when he walked.
This morning he's a little perkier, and meowed to me when I greeted him. But he's still moving slowly, tail down, occasionally wobbling a little as he walks. And I've seen him get into the litterbox and stay
I am worried. My cat needed sedation (pre gabalin)before going to the vet yesterday. It's now 24 hours after he got it and he's not normal.
First coming home yesterday he seemed sedated but OK, had no problem getting up into his tower and went to sleep. I stepped out for a short time and came back
I'll have yours. I will happily dip fried potatoes (white or sweet), fried plantains, or a grilled cheese sandwich into ketchup. But first I'll stir in a little green Tabasco or some Sriracha.
Actuallly, all those foods are primarily tools to transport ketchup into my mouth.
I aspire to have the same confidence in medical knowledge as a device sales rep.
No I'm no casting shade on the surgeon general nominee. It's someone else.
Someone explain to me like I'm 5 years old-what is the health benefit of a continuous glucose monitor for a non-diabetic person?
It doesn't measure weight, blood pressure, activity, VO2 max, caloric intake, SPO2, heart rate, heart rate variability. Aren't they all more relevant to a non-diabetic?
Friends got married one week before we did, and went to Yosemite for their honeymoon. They almost didn't make it back for our wedding because there was a big snowstorm.
Our wedding date was June 12th.
And because I don't have a place to store it, it sits out leaning against the kitchen island and yesterday I knocked it over while vacuuming and it made a loud noise and scared my cat.
That very nice rather expensive thing my parents gave me that I don't use, have never used, don't think I will ever use, have been moving from residence to residence for years, but can't bring myself to get rid of 'cause it was a gift from my parents, the last of whom died 15 years ago.
Unless you fly Southwest. They use terminal 2, and the most interesting thing is the airplane drain covers in the bathroom sinks.
I thought I did but it must have been a snark gummy instead.
OK, who slipped that in with my calcium gummies?
