If y’all thought mama oak treehopper with her little nymphs was cute, just look at mama with her young adult offspring. 😍 These brightly colored new adults darken a week or two after emerging to more closely resemble their mama. I like to think of this as their rebellious teenage stage.

There's a bit of a trend in recent years for using toxic pigments again.

As well as orpiment, there's realgar (another arsenic pigment), true Naples yellow (lead antimonate), & cinnabar (mercuric sulphide).

Pay actual fucken attention to safety info if you ever use them…

January Wasp-ing in Florida is a thing. One of my favorite little nuggets, Adelencyrtus (an encyrtid, of course), made an appearance today on a fence post. Love her little shiny stripy squished face. 💚

I also suggest American friends start following reputable news sources in countries like here in Canada, or the UK, France, Australia, etc.
