Beautiful mediation on the enduring impact of childhood friendship even when it ends far too soon.

βMr. Gorbachev, I love this wall!
Come away oh human child to the waters and the wild for the worldβs more full of weeping than you can understand.
βWhere dips the rocky highland of sleuth wood in the lake, there lies a leafy island where flapping herons wake the drowsy water rats.β
Iβm in Terenure and can hear Born Slippy word for word at Forbidden Fruit in Kilmainham. Thoughts and prayers for the hearing of everyone attending.
Itβs insanely loud. In Terenure and it feels like Iβm at the gig.
@alexmassie.bsky.social Hi Alex. Could you follow me back so I can DM you please?
@mchshe.bsky.social Hello Mr. Sheen, please respond by DM if youβre up for this. Thanks.

Alan, were airflows different with this high pressure? Is that why temperatures didnβt get very high? Was wind from the north/east?
Colin Kaepernick as Ramaphosaβs guest at the state visit in South Africa.
Will they comply?
Screen shot of top story on Fox News.com putting a positive spin on the tariffs story.
Screen shot of Fox News.com story stating βDow Jones down over 1,200 points as Trumpβs tariffs roil global marketsβ
The problem with the US in a nutshell: story on the left is the top story on foxnews.com; the story on the right is only found after *much* scrolling. Whoβs telling Trump supporters their retirement savings are taking a battering?
Better still co-opt Rory McIlroy into the cabinet through the Seanad.
We really need to move to sealed bids like they have in Scotland.
Never mind the speed, you couldnβt use it if your mother was on the phone!
To add to Jeremyβs points - this doesnβt happen in a vacuum. To counter disease outbreaks you want strong health, education, water and sanitation, food and nutrition systems. Gutting of foreign assistance/ODA budgets isnβt only morally wrong, itβs not very smart.
Great piece of history! Fodhla printing survived right up to 2016!
Under His Eye.
The NY Times finishes 'The Daily' podcast with "Here's what else you need to know today" and they give a round up of major headlines. Yesterday they simply could have said "US hegemony is over and the republic is in peril".
Alastair, I think Eoin Murphy - former cabinet level minister in Ireland - would be a great Leading interviewee. Heβs written a stingingly honest memoir about his failure in office and his breakdown. www.irishexaminer.com/lifestyle/ar...
Harrowing thread from Jeremy on the devastating impact of the US foreign assistance pause.
Iβd add that the global architecture that plans, prioritises & coordinates the delivery of all global humanitarian & development assistance is hugely dependent on US funding.
The system itself is at risk.
The clocks are striking 13.
Enjoy yourβ¦nut loaf?
Tell me thatβs an estuary and not a lake! π₯Ά
Every dayβs a school day! Thanks for sharing.

Two people - no more than human flesh around a skeleton - struck by a two tonnes metal machine traveling at god knows what speed described in @irishtimes.bsky.social as a βcrashβ
The other-half nailed this Christmas present. Strong start from @rory-stewart.bsky.social in what I trust will be a brilliant read.
Festive greetings one and all.

Short letter to Irish Times, detailing the grief felt by the letter writer at Christmas, after the loss of his wife.
What a letter.
