NHS England said it commissioned 10 independent evidence reviews to examine different aspects of the use of testosterone or ostrogen, either on their own or with other drugs for young people who identify as a gender different to their biological sex. It found there was not enough good quality evidence to conclude overall whether the drugs benefited young people or harmed them, so NHS England will not issue new prescriptions while it continues to consider responses from advocacy groups and healthcare professionals.

The BBC is reporting that the NHS commissioned 10 independent reviews???

The NHS has now stopped all medication - puberty blockers and hormones - for trans minors. For most, unless they get drugs from other sources, this means a lifetime, in an increasingly violent and transphobic society, unable to pass. Under Wes Streeting NHS policy is harm and death for trans people.

Today's ban on NHS HRT for under 18s formalises a policy that has already been in place - Noone under 18 has received a new prescription for HRT since mid 2024 (I don't know of any since late 2023).

Of course this policy also raises the risk of similar action on private healthcare for under 18s.
