The picture is by William Alfred Green and was probably taken between 1910-1930. I don't know who the lady is but I do know that the stones aren't there anymore

Honoured to have delivered the CBA deCardi lecture this year - thank you to the @archaeologyuk.bsky.social for inviting me to speak: m.youtube.com/watch?v=PeTT...
Yeah I like the thought of a local architectural style. Really enjoying your photos too. Cheers Tony

Well if you can no longer colonise space then time colonisation is the only option. What do you expect them to do? Not colonise stuff?
Always thought the capstone of Slidderyford Dolmen fits too neatly into that curve to be an accident. I'm seeing curved upright stones at other Co.Down coastal tombs, Toye collapsed tomb and Clontygora and my brain wants to connect them. Has anyone else seen this? #TombTuesday

I loved this place. I think it's an underrated site but one I really want to go to again

Stones at Stonehenge
People keep asking me about photos of The Old Stones so here you go for Christmas. Mick, Keith, and mystery lurker at you know where. Beautiful texture on this 1968 photo by Michael Cooper - not one I’d seen before. Sending good wishes to everyone on here. #Stonehenge More 1/
Happy Christmas to all you prehistory and megalith geeks!

Oi. I don’t care if it is the longest night or how atmospheric it makes the lighting of your bucolic scene don’t light fires near a scheduled monument!

Another great series of #DiggingForBritain coming up. I love working on this show. Lots more photogrammetry this season which fills that spot on my Venn diagram of nerding out on 3D and Archaeology

An old oil painting of a man in period dress, long coat and a distinct hat looking at a dolmen. It is dusk, misty and the trees have no leaves.
