I just find it interesting that both teams tried so hard to be accessible to the other culture that they actually crossed over. It's neat! They're both adorable.
K/DA is somewhat constrained in that the characters are pre-existing from LoL, and so technically not from anywhere on Earth (of course Ahri is Definitely Not A Kumiho, honest). But they worked hard to put a lot of Korean style and lyrics into the songs.
It is also inevitable, since I started working at Riot a few months ago, to compare KDH with K/DA. Obvious similarities aside - what is interesting is that although KDH has a ton of Korean culture in the movie, there's not a lot in the songs themselves.
I need to watch it again, this time rewind+slomo to watch all the silly incidentals (the popcorn eating!)
One annoyance - I couldn't get the subtitles to translate the Korean. They just said [Korean singing]. Come the fuck on, subtitles - you had ONE JOB. I'm sure I'm missing some nerdy jokes here.
Finally got around to watching Kpop Demon Hunters. After all the hype - was not disappointed. I mean of course the plot twists were not hard to spot. You know the cure for that? Turn your brain off. It's not that sort of movie. Shut up and sing along to the music. I loved it.
