And with that, #MWE 2026 is over! Here's how all the albums stacked up when trying to rank everything after the fact.
#MWE Day 28: Limp Bizkit - Results May Vary
Genuinely one of the worst albums I've ever heard. A band whose confidence has been completely shaken, and the only thing they can make now are midtempo tracks about problems I couldn't care less about. A failure on basically every level.
1/10
#MWE Day 27: Metallica - St. Anger
Based on it's reputation this album is... not that terrible? It's certainly not good, but it is pretty god damn compelling & speaks at something as Metallica goes through some shit. And honestly I got used to the snare sound.
3.5/10
#MWE Day 26: Madonna - American Life
Madonna goes through a midlife crisis and forgets to make capital S Songs. Some downright awful moments (dated production + the rapping), but a surprisingly compelling record for how raw & vulnerable it gets for an artist of Madonna's stature.
5/10
they need to address screwing over the lonely island, forcing TLI to make "daiquiri girl" as the SNL digital short that week
#MWE Day 25: Oasis - Be Here Now
Was I complaining yesterday about the Spin Doctors album being too long? Up that complaint by at least 2x with this one. The good songs are at least spread out across the tracklist, but it all still blends together into samey, soupy slop.
4/10
#MWE Day 24: Spin Doctors - Turn It Upside Down
There's really only one curveball on this album ("Cleopatra's Cat"), as otherwise this is a very boring record that mixes jam band, stoner and pop rock bullshit. Also has the classic 90s problem of ALBUM TOO LONG.
4/10
#MWE Day 23: Carpenters - Passage
For half the tracklist, it suffers the same issue as Ringo the 4th which is, why are you having Karen singing these songs? The other half though? No issues. Immaculately produced & arranged, and Karen is pitch perfect. Almost makes up for the duds.
6/10
#MWE Day 22: Ringo Starr - Ringo the 4th
Without Ringo, this album is a perfectly fine, albeit forgettable, 70s pop album with some disco influence. With Ringo, it's a confusing piece of work that more often than not plays against his strengths. Boring, but fascinatingly so.
4/10
#MWE Day 21: Leonard Cohen - Songs of Love and Hate
Probably one of the most accurate album names in history because there's tracks here where Cohen sounds downright demonic. But it's the love shown here that makes this so real to the human experience writ large. Pretty haunting!
9/10
Oh yeah the Simon solo stuff Iβve heard is 100% better, Garfunkel seemingly takes away all his bite
#MWE Day 20: Simon & Garfunkel - Bridge Over Troubled Water
Maybe it's because I'm sick, or maybe it's something else but I really did not like this at all. In fact, I found it tremendously wimpy. Positive feelings about "Mrs. Robinson" over 20 years ago don't translate today.
3/10
its my birthday, so you legally cannot get mad at me about what album I have ranked at #3 on my list
#MWE Day 19: Karen Dalton - It's So Hard to Tell Who's Going to Love You the Best
Sorry y'all, just can't deal with this voice over the course of a whole album. If you fuck heavy with the blues you'll fuck with this, but I only fuck with the blues so much. A skill issue on my part but, alas.
5/10
#MWE Day 18: Townes Van Zandt - Townes Van Zandt
I know a number of folks would have been really mad at me if I wasnβt ecstatic about this record so let me give yβall some relief: this is great. TVZ conjures a mood like no other songwriter Iβve heard on this thing.
8.5/10

#MWE Day 17: Nick Drake - Five Leaves Left
Much has been said about Nick Drake, including what I'm about to say probably, but holy cow the arrangements on this album are so stunning. While Pink Moon is heavily lauded, it's important to realize he had the juice from the jump.

#MWE Day 16: Neil Young with Crazy Horse - Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere
Fucking crazy ass songwriting on this thing of course, but holy shit I'm not sure if guitars have ever sounded as good as they sound on this album. Time for me to commit to a Neil deep dive!
9/10
#MWE Day 15: Fred Neil - Fred Neil
I've loved "The Dolphins" for nearly a decade since discovering it from a Rocco Botte video, and the rest of the album doesn't disappoint, albeit doesn't reach the highs that song takes you on. "That's The Bag I'm In" is a real as fuck song.
8/10
#MWE Day 14: Nothing - Tired of Tomorrow
Coming in a day late on this one, sorry! But this is fine. I think this week has taught me that I am way more into bands influenced by like, Swirlies or Blue Smiley compared to the original British scene.
6.5/10
Joyce Manor are the best band in the world. So with the new album being out now for a few weeks, itβs time to see where it stacks up in their discography!

#MWE Day 13: LSD and the Search for God - LSD and the Search for God EP
A perfectly fine little shoegaze project that I've got no clear idea why has so much acclaim as it does. Not even saying this in a mean way, I just have no idea why people seem to go nuts for this band.
6/10
#MWE Day 12: Lift to Experience - The Texas-Jerusalem Crossroads
I'm trying my best with this year's series to take the albums as they are & not focus on the online reaction/reputation, but I'm sorry, this is just RYM-slop. Didn't move me whatsoever.
5/10
#MWE Day 11: Swirlies - Blonder Tongue Audio Baton
An album that sounds simultaneously like the year it was made in, but also something that could have easily been released today and sounded contemporary. So in a less roundabout way: a very influential album to today's indie scene.
8/10
