Kiddo was thrilled to hear my next stop was the library. I got glomped by several former kiddos all with great news to share with me. I love and miss these kids. π

1st of Her Name. Library girlie. Farm girl. I pretty much live in Twin Peaks, WA. (In truth, Skagit County.) I like horror & animals & video games & photography & film & crafts & video games & I wish I was better at sign language. (She/Her) π€π»π§π»ββοΈπ¦»π»β

Gotta say, it feels good to be sitting with the dog in town, when one of my former library kids spots us, yells my name, and then runs out of the way to the crosswalk to run up to us to say hi and catch up.
i don't know how to teach people to be more curious but i think that's what we desperately need
My actual first anime was probably Speed Racer because my dad liked it. We would watch it on Boomerang. PokΓ©mon was about the same time for me though.
My gateway was the old Toonami block: Dragonball Z, Yu Yu Hakusho, etc. Fav of all time is Cowboy Bebop. (I haven't watched much anime since high school so I don't know anything recent.)
Screenshot of a tweet from Mike Berg, Sen Sheehy's staffer saying "Our excellent Capitol Police dropped off a patch for Senator Sheehy after he helped them remove this unhinged protestor from the hearing." with a photo of the patch.
If you're wondering about US Capitol Police's opinion on Senator Tim Sheehy after he attacked a protesting veteran that they were in the process of also attacking... they gave him a patch.
This is what the Capitol Police think of protesters. Remember j6th with that in mind.
and kids! i see so may people complaining about having to see a 14 year oldβs opinion online, but they legitimately have no third spaces to go to. there arenβt even designated websites for kids anymore, with games and such. they died with adobe flash.
They are torturing and killing people in our concentration camps, and I wish more people were actively bothered by that
The worst kept secret in librarianship is that we are actually the worst patrons, especially when it comes to returning things on time.
WEAR YOUR FAVORITE SHINY THING.
The federal government should not decide what your kids are allowed to read.
Oppose the Federal Book Ban bill!
Sign the petition and defend the freedom to read.

Jax lying on his bed, head tucked down on the bolster, staring emptily at nothing. He is a German shepherd, black with huge streaky brown paws and big pointy ears.
Sometimes you gotta stare into the middle distance, even when you are a dog.
With this war on Iran costing $1B per day, we are now at 4$B, an amount that would fund 3,200 five year NIH biomedical research grants.
All of this π― but also there are those of us that are so disabled by things like ME/CFS that socializing, working, just being in public spaces isnβt doable. Connecting online or from afar is often some of our only connection, some of our only socialization, the only place we can work.
really tired of conversations about how we need to get people to spend more time offline that don't acknowledge that one of the reasons people ARE online is their access needs aren't being met in physical spaces. This is especially true for queer people and disabled people.
You know, The Fast and the Furious series works really well if you treat it like a lvl 1-20 D&D campaign. The characters just keep getting more and more ridiculously OP, so the stakes keep getting more ridiculous to match, and suddenly flying a car into space just kinda tracks.
Several rural states changed child labor laws beginning around 2021 so that they could force (Brown and Black) kids into jobs no one else would take.
Nebraska, just weeks ago, voted to cut minimum wage requirements for minors.
This party cares about child labor and exploitation, not children.
"Artists peak at 30", "30 under 30", "by 30 you should" ridiculous. Arts industries capital craves young people to exploit and burn out. It doesn't want older artists thriving and guiding the young. It also doesn't want artists to exist. Stop letting cannibals tell you you only matter on a plate.
"I hope he gets the help he needs because I was so triggered by him using the first amendment I was driven to violence and had to assist police in assaulting him."
A screenshot of Sen. Tim Sheehy's response to his actions on X. He is quote tweeting Alan He who posted a link to the video of Sheehy breaking a marine's arm. Alan says "Senator Sheehy joined Capitol Police in lifting up and ejecting anti war protestor Brian McGinnis from a SASC subcommittee hearing. McGinnis is a Green Party candidate running for..." Sheehy's response is as follows: Capitol Police were attempting to remove an unhinged protestor from the Armed Services hearing. He was fighting back. I decided to help out and deescalate the situation. This gentleman came to the Capitol looking for a confrontation, and he got one. I hope he gets the help he needs without causing further violence."
A) That is very much NOT deescalation.
B) You have NO BUSINESS dealing with any form of disruption. That's what Capitol Police are for. You just wanted to look like a tough guy and to have an excuse to enact violence on someone. I hope every veteran who walks by you spits in your direction.
So they've got three cops removing this guy, but Sheehy rushes over to join in so everyone can see what a tough guy he is.
What a poser.
Warning, this eventually becomes graphic and shows Sen. Sheehy (and some police officers) breaking a Marine's arm.
I'm sharing it because it shows the lead up to the more widely shared video and has a clearer angle showing how reckless the Senator's behavior was.
US Marine standing in protest of Israelβs war gets his arm broken by police and Senator Tim Sheehy.
This was excessive use of force. Judging by another video I saw he was interrupting but he was calm. Police escalated things to physicality. Sheehy escalated to violence. This man just wanted to say his piece.
Big, manly hero. Didn't jump into the "battle" until the veteran was already restrained. Sheehy has probably already sent out fund raising letters.
Sheehy jumped in when there was no chance of him being injured. Textbook bully cowardice in a Walmart suit.
If Tim Sheehy isnβt removed from the Senate for this assault on a US Veteran, no Republican ever again gets to say they support our troops. Period.
Sheehy wasn't a law enforcement official. It wasn't his place to jump in and deescalate sh*t. We're now at the portion of the show where, thanks to a batsh*t INSANE political party, it's perfectly acceptable, even encouraged, to physically assault people for having a differing opinion. #voteblue
[WARNING: This is a bit graphic.]
A Marine Corps veteran protesting Trumpβs War on Iran had his arm broken by Capitol Police and GOP Senator Tim Sheehy. It appears to be a compound fracture.
